That's pretty cool! I have my sister to share poetry with but it hasn't always been that way. Before this site I NEVER showed anyone my work. Now I show everyone. I am a secretary for a real estate office and EVERY second that I have free I write...So I guess I am a nerd too....lol

That's a pretty cool idea.....My sister and I pick titles and then write our own poems and then compare them...to see how differently they are...Maybe we could do that too...It would be neat to see how complete stranger's poems came out...

that sounds like a pretty cool idea, no one i know has ever read my poems although they know i write them.

Writing is something I do for fun....It used to be a dream of mine to be a writer but as I got older I found other things that I love so now it's really just a hobby I guess...

I'll join too! I'd love to have people help me out on writing and telling me how I can improve my writing.
Here's something about me:
Well I'm half Finnish half Swedish and I've lived most of my life in China but every once in awhile we come back to Finland for furlough ( I'm in finland right now). In china I go to an international academy and here in Finland I always change schools. I'm turning 15 in a month.
I'd like to have writing as my career but I don't think that's a possibilty for me so maybe I'll stay in China and do minority work.

Red Rose

I found a red rose
Lying upon my bed
I woke to the sweet scent
Of the petals so red

Never did I imagine
It would be my last rose
The way I feel inside
Nobody really knows

You just went away
And never looked back
I’m not sure what to do
My heart has been attacked

My life has no purpose
I feel no need to live
My world is crashing down
Something’s got to give

I pray every night
You’ll some day return
For your sweet heart
I so desperately yearn

I no longer have a reason
For my life to continue
My life holds no meaning
If I can’t be with you

I stand before you now
Asking God why
I have to be strong
So I’m saying good-bye

Here is my red rose
The last one you ever gave
With tear filled eyes
I’ll place it upon your grave

I love the shortness of that poem because still the message is very strong.

Carrie....since your last line says "rest in peace dear soldierS" you should let the line go down as soldierS with Soon Depart...do you know what I'm trying to say???? Just so you won't have the extra line at the bottom.....anyhoo it was awesome....I loved it! I don't write about war....I have an old poem called soldier that I'll post...yes, I'll do that. And then I will try to write a new one.
