Even Such Is Time

Even such is time, that takes in trust
Our youth, our joys, our all we have,
And pays us but with age and dust;
Who, in the dark and silent grave,
When we have wandered all our ways,
Shuts up the story of our days.
But from this earth, this grave, this dust,

i like this poem alot mainly because it is short but explains alot. i think it means that sir walter raleigh beleives he has lived his life to the full and will be repayed by god..it shows his trust in god.
he wrote this poem the night before his execution*sp?*

I think it is saying that while we are alive we strive to live our lives to their fullest. We strive to gain all that we can in wealth and fame. And what do we really end up with in the end? Nothing but age and dust. Then when we die, that's it. The end of our story. But, there is a hope to it all. The trust that God will raise us up to a place where we will live on forever in eternal bliss.
