I see your point. What you must do is buy a book that explains the Elizabethan language as well as the allusions - most good books on Shakey have a separate narrative that gives an explanation as to what's going on.

Remember this, though: No one - and I repeat, no one, fully gets the drift of his plays without studying them in some depth. So don't feel intellectually threatened by the plays or the people who maintain that they fully understand them. Once, they were as confused as you are now. So go out and do some reading.
