Ok the plot is basically this:

A man goes to an actor to present his story to an audience of family and friends to tell them about his experiences. But the actor doesn't like the way he performs, so does the piece playing him (Arthur Kipps). A woman saw her son and his nursery maid drown, and has been driven to madness so died over 60 years ago. Now she, she haunts places and when ever her ghost is seen, a child dies. Now Arthur Kipps goes to the house of Alice Drablow to sort out her finances and go to her funeral. At this funeral, a woman dressed in black appears, first up the back of the grave, and secondly at the head of the grave. Kipps thinks it is just a woman, and goes to the house feeling fine. He sees the woman again, and now hears a horse and cart crashing every couple of nights. He also hears a noise - Boom boom. boom boom. It sounds like a heartbeat so he goes up the stairs to find out what it is. But the sound stops. He hears it again, and see's it is a rocking chair in a childs nursery rocking on its own accord. This is after the door that was once locked bangs open. There is also a blood curdling scream. A bit later, you see the woman in black rocking in this rocking chiar in the nursery, before disappearing again. Right at the end, Mr Kipps says he married his fiance, and had a baby son. They went on a ride on a horse and cart at a fair .. BANG the woman in black appears. You hear the same horse and cart crashing. .. Well this kind of behaviour carries on throughout the show, until at the end the actor says to the man, "I loved your surprise! How did you manage to get the woman to come and act her piece without me noticing her come in?" The real Arthur Kipps replies with "I didn't see a woman sir..." And you hear the rocking chair rock again. Lights out.

I'm sorry if I spoil the ending for anyone, but I thought I would share :D
