To Maharani of Angels: (written as as Bob posted)

Typical blinkered answer of the misguided youth. How about giving a well thought out a reasonable reply that can be discussed in a civilised manner?

You know what Americans have to worry about more than anything else in their lives above Iraq, oil, the Taliban, terrorism and their reputation with other countries?

    Putting food on the table.

Of course, you have had very little or nothing to do with that over the last five years so you wouldn't understand, but ask your parents how things have been financially under Bush and see what answer you get.

let's see....first, how is it that was this country not very good before bush, compared to how it is now? it was much better than now, certainly. name some good things bush has done that could possibly make up for the negative things he has done. if you look at statistics for abortions, they went way up when bush came into office, and that wasnt because clinton went through all the stuff to completely and outright ban it, instead it has to do with the poverty in the country which clinton was probably doing a better job with. second, its not just bush i despise, most of the government right now is dominated by the same type of raving right wing republican that bush is. and probably its not bush, but other more dominant republicans who are in charge of the right wing agenda that is currently ruling the country. bush is just their little poster boy for the cause, he has a lot less to do with it than most people think, in my opinion, he's not quite that intelligent to be able to successfully blind the majority of the country.

u prove a good point bob, i don't hate bush it just well i have an older brother, and he wants to go into combat and i know that i should respect his decision but well i love him so much and i'd be afraid to lose him and well i have a friend and he lost a cousin and he was devestated by it, and to think if loseing a cousion hurt him that badly, i couldn't even imagen how bad it would hurt to lose brother and this whole thing with the war like ok ill admit i did want to go to war in the begging because i was upset about the events that took place on 9-11 but now that we've captured saddam hussian and the iraqis have their freedom i have to ask why are we still there? like ihave heard the only reason we're there is to rebuild what we have destryoed, but what about what they destroyed what about the lives they ruined and the deaths they caused on 9-11, and we're trtying to help them why?? probably cause americas better then that i don't know, buti just feel if they destroyed the lives of so many people and took the lives away of so many people whay in the hell would we try to help them? thats why im not to fond of bush, ill admit as a president there has been times where i did respect him but right now i dont, he doesnt deserve it

If you want an underlying reason to look at concerning Iraq you should go back to Kuwait in 1991, not 9/11 or oil.

I know most of you were just wee bairns or not even born, but Daddy Bush didn't finish off Saddam when he had the chance, it looked better in the public eye for him to withdraw, victorius without minimal casualties and maximum effect, so they withdrew. That was a near fatal mistake in my opinion.

No one would have given two shits if the Allies (so favoured by the world that even Switzerland contributed money) had piled in and finished the job, installed a new government and took all the oil they liked.

But no, it was not to be and now, 14 years later things are so different and people will have their say.

It's rather amusing to think that you could be saying: Wasn't it such a great thing our boys did back then, freeing the people from a vile murderer!

Instead of: Fuck Bush, he's done such a wrong thing, freeing people from a vile murderer.

He's just finishing what Daddy should have done a long long time ago...

I think that anyone who lives in the United States and feels the need to disrespect and look down on our president is a terrorist in themselves.

Bush was elected our president because that is who the majority of the US voted for (including me!) He is your president and therefore you should have enough respect for him not to cut him down and criticize him. I am glad that he is our president.

I bet when Lincoln freed the slaves....half of America was pissed. Well guess what! Same thing. We are trying to make the world a better place and if you cant see that then you are blind. Now, Lincoln is a hero, and in 50 years, Bush will be too!

You people seem to forget about morals and heart. "a war that was never meant to be started"?!?! Are you in a bubble or deaf? 3 of our major building were struck down. 4 of our planes were forced out of the sky. Millions of people were killed. Is that reason enough. This war was meant to be started. What would you have done? Could you have done a better job? Why don't you yourself run for Pres. Things are done for a reason. Although those reasons may not be known by all, they are there. The government has the right to withhold information from us. How do you know that they are not?! Just because some people like to think that they know everything that is going on, doesn't mean that they do. There are more reasons as to why we went ot Iraq. Just because we know know them, doesn't mean that they do not exist. Iraq was a training groung for the talliban. News Flash::: the talliban hate us. they are responsible for the tragedy known now as 9/11. Yea....it was sudam. but not by himself. Bush has done good by protecting our country from futher devistation. He has kept a war out of our homeland. He has saved millions of lives that could have been taken had another attack happened. Yes, weve lost a lot of soldiers, but can you imagine how high that number would have been had the war come to us?! All I ask is that you widen your search for answers and look deaper into it. It's not just about oil. Its about the lives of Americans.

How do you know that he pissed them off. How do you know that he didn't do what he saw fit. How can you go about blaming the entire thing on Bush. He does not act alone. Although we had not been terrorized...there was still terrorism. Bush wanted to prevend a possible mass destruction of the US. How do you know that it wouldn't have been worse had he not done that? Bush has done us good. You just seem to be far to ignorant and stubborn to see that. Obviously, I can not change your view. You are set in your standards. That is fine. We are all entitled to our opinions, but try to take other things into consideration. Try to look at it from a different view. Maybe then you will understand a little more.

well first of all....I said that it makes them a terrorist in themselves. there is a difference.

Secondly, I bet our troops support our president. If you can't support your own president, then is disrespectful. Say what you want about me, I dont find it offensive. But I do become offended when my presidend is being criticized for the choices that he made to better our country.

Little Girl?! Excuse me, but I am older than you.....

I'm not downing anyone for not supporting Bush, I'm not downing anyone for expressing their opinions. I just wish ya'll could understand what is going on from someone elses views. Widening our horizen makes us less vulnarable to the world. I am not telling anyone who to support. I'm not telling you that you SHOULD support Bush...I just want you to see my view of things. And the war was meant to happen. All things happen for a reason. We can not dwell upon the past, but look forward to the future. "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference."

I accept that I can not change your opinions, I did try.

I'm am sorry that we can not all see things from the same perspective. Maybe when everyone realizes that the war that is happening in the US between all Americans, we will learn peace.

Fallenangel, slamming Bush for his intolerance of terrorism is a big steaming pile of horsecrap, frankly.

Islamic fundamentalists tried to take out the TC back in '93. Who was in charge and what was done about it? In the same year your predsident invited terrorists to his home for dinner and got them clean American money via Irish Americans to pay for the bombs that kill my fellow citizens. Who was that? I hear you ask... Clinton of course.

Think of both sides before you put words to screen, please. Bush has the balls to get in and get it done while democrats prefer to let this bullshit called terrorism rein free because 'it's not thier problem', give him that much at least.

I'll let you get back to your U2 albums now.

And this one to see the human cost of Saddam Hussein's reign.

  • Bret Higgins

Sorry, didn't realise it was aregister only site.

    Here is the article.

During his 24 years of dominance, Saddam Hussein was responsible for some of the worst crimes committed by any dictator in modern history.

Invasion of Iran in September 1980. This started an eight-year war and cost 1 million lives. Saddam used chemical weapons against Iranian forces from 1984 onwards. The war ended in a stalemate in 1988. Iraq gained nothing.

"Anfal" campaign against the Kurdish minority, 1987-88. This brutal response to a Kurdish uprising in northern Iraq involved gas attacks on villages, including the town of Halabja in March 1988. Hundreds of villages were razed as large areas were ethnically cleansed of Kurds. About 100,000 Kurds were killed.

Kuwait occupation, August 1990-February 1991. Thousands of Kuwaitis murdered, raped or imprisoned by Iraq's occupying forces. About 600 people disappeared and the country's oilfields were destroyed.

Crushing of the Kurdish and Shia uprisings, March-May 1991. Saddam forced about 450,000 Kurdish refugees to flee towards Iraq's northern border with Turkey. Thousands more were killed. In the south, his Republican Guard tank units attacked the Shia holy cities of Najaf and Karbala. Between 30,000 and 60,000 Shias were killed.

Destruction of Iraq's southern marshes, 1991-2001. This was one of the worst acts of environmental despoliation in history. For 5000 years, the Ma'dan, or Marsh Arabs, inhabited the unique ecosystem of the al-Hawizeh and al-Hammar marshes. Saddam punished them for joining the 1991 uprising by systematically draining the marshlands.

Of the 500,000 Marsh Arabs, barely 10,000 survive in the remains of the wetlands. Saddam forced about 100,000 to flee to Iran. The rest were killed or displaced inside Iraq.

Internal repression 1979-2003. Anyone suspected of opposing Saddam risked imprisonment, torture and death. Amnesty International reported last year that Iraq's prisons were among the world's worst and arbitrary killings were common. A "prison cleansing" campaign claimed 3000 lives in 1997 alone. The UN calculates that about 300,000 Iraqis disappeared during Saddam's rule. The death toll from Saddam's era probably approached the 2 million people killed by Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia in 1975-79.

It certainly exceeded the 800,000 who died in the Rwandan genocide of 1994.
