Satanism

It's no different from Christianity other than the fact that it's totally different. It HAS to be allowed in modern society because we live in a democratic (for the most part) system of government.

Question is, how dangerous is Satanism (or any other malevolent worshipping system like Jujuism) to the world compared to Shinto or Hinduism?

Satanism has nothing to do with Satan you TOOLS.

Anton LaVey's how to book on Satanism:

Well, I've just done some research on your version of Satanism, Ryan and to say I'm not exactly impressed is just about where I'll stand.

The following is from a former Church of Satan 'disciple':

"All I can say is skip this and read Nietzsche instead. This is Nietzsche for Dummies: a huge ego-fulfilling prank played by Anton LaVey. Now that he's dead, the Church of Satan is the most pointless organisation in existence.

I'm not bad mouthing the man, according to his own philosophy he did exactly the right thing - conned thousands of people into sending him money by looking scary on the front of a book - well done Mr La Vey - but if you're looking for anything deeper than that, get the philosophy first hand and skip the junk.

Besides which, you can name check Nietzsche at parties until your dying day: professing to be a Satanist will only be cool until you leave school."

From the site you provided these are the basics:

    # Atheistic. There are no Gods in Satanism.

    # Not dualistic: souls and bodies are indivisible and there is no war between cosmic good and cosmic evil

    # Autodeists - we worship ourselves. The only God we can ever perceive is in our own existential world. We are each a God. (conflicts directly with the first rule)

    # Materialistic

    # A "human potential" movement. Striving for longer life and a better education. Science And Technology Are Necessary: We who walk this dark path along with the same interests will pursue the elimination of Human limitation to the maximum

    # Of the left hand path

    # Opposition of religions, especially those that hold a belief in an afterlife. Satanism is an un-religion. Satanism adopts the adversaries of major religions as it's standard bearers

    # Only the self is sacred. Nothing is holy except clarity of thought

    # Satanists do not pray

    # Meditation is considered a valid path of self discovery

    # Stupidity is the cardinal "sin" of Satanism, the sin which is believed to cause all other Human evil

    more to come...

    Continued from the site

"Satan is not a real, living entity, conscious or a physical thing that can be interacted with. It is a symbol, something ethereal, something that basically doesn't exist except as an emotional attachment and personal dream. Just like Buddhists do not worship Buddha, Satanists hold up Satan as an ultimate principal rather than an object of literal worship. Satan inspires and provokes people, like all (honest) religions the ultimate point is self-help. God believers have a different opinion on what Satan is, but their opinion is a result of their religion. Satanism's Satan is much more eclectic and multicultural than to be defined by Christianity or Islam.

Satan is the dark force in nature representing the carnal nature and death of all living things. Satan is the best word to describe our powerful and independent symbolic figurehead and our opposition of God and organized religion accords with even traditional views of Satan. The materialism of Satanism (even the spiritual components are highly reductionist) is a direct challenge of God, Allah, and all or other religious symbols. Satan wishes to replace God. The Christian Bible and other artefacts of religion may be plundered and misused as required as they're merely Human inventions. The social engineering aspect shows through with our imagery and style, we control people with it.

Of course Satanism has denominations and widely varying beliefs. Many types of Satanism exist including some where Satan is seen as a living being. I think if there was a god, it would probably be an evil one. In these, thankfully, the basis of the belief is not the Christian Bible and I call these beliefs "Righteous Satan" theologies. All the elements of Satan I have just mentioned are discussed in more depth below and on the essays linked from this page."

So it isn't really Satanism because LaVey couldn't be arsed to come up with a term of his own, or more realistically CHOSE Satanism and the title Church of Satan because it would sell more books. Doesn't make sense anyother way because how can you be a Church and be Atheist at the same time? Also, it just appears to be good excuse to be selfish and do what you like because it says you can.

So, whenever I say Satanism, I'll be referring to the classical version that was not written back in the 60's. I will refer to LaVey's ideals as Faux-Satanism to differentiate from the two.

Now, I don't know if this can be called a religion as it is the ideals of one man (said Anton LaVey) which is Atheist in all respects (excepting those that aid book sales). But, Ryan, I'll certainly not try and stop you in anyway and even defend your right to read this book and follow it's philosophies.

Yes, it looks just like a big flashing neon light, but it doesn't solve the problem. Enlighten me.

Satanism is a religion just as Christianity is. They are just as good/bad

    Are you a satanist, Hannah?

Well. then enlighten me of your religion.

Do you know, for instance, what Carcosa is?

If not, you are a wanna-be satanist!

    haah

Still waiting for Karma to 'educate' me.

Hannah. The malevolent premise in classical Satanism is not a very nice thing in any way shape or form. Embracing the act of being selfish as opposed to striving to be selfless causes a lot more problems than many people would think.

But that's my view. As long as your religion, be it Satanism, Faux-satanism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism or Shinto, does not afflict others then you got the green light in my book

    QUESTION:

"Do you know, for instance, what Carcosa is?

If not, you are a wanna-be satanist!

    haah"

    ANSWER??

"yes i am a satanist. I am also a second degree witch."

    You didn't answer the question.

As for my views on Satanism: it's just another group of people that "want to be different" so they slap a label on themselves.

I think you'll find that both Lip and myself will be most accomodating and will not want to argue. We have our views, but we both respect the views of others too.

As I have absolutely no personal knowledge or contact with Satanism I'd be only too happy to learn from one involved on a personal level.

Thanks Bret for posting that information about Satanism.

I thought it was all about worshipping satan. I guess there are different types since Hannah (the witch) says that she actually does worship Satan. And you say it promotes materialism and selfishness? And stupidity is the cardinal sin?

    Hmm. Okay, no comment...yet.
