whats your favorite kind of music / music artist and why ?

My favourite music artist of all time is David Bowie.

No one in the history of music has been able to re-invent his style with the changing times to the degree, and level of success that he has.

My favourite music? Anything without 80's 90's 00's female singers.

    Ella Fitzgerald on the otherhand...

pop, swing bands, (classical 50's, 60's and 70's) Rhythm and Blues, metal, rock, grunge, classical, electro, electronica... you name it.

I cannot stand pop. Pop, is bullshit. Pop is nothing but a tune that everyone gets into at one point and is used to become the most popular and well known. It only goes with the 'in' things and changes according to what it produces. It has no appreciation to music as an art whatsoever.
Though...you will find me dancing to it at parties. Same as hiphop, which I despise.

My music: rock, no one can deny 100% pure talent rock. I also enjoy classics and some broadway music
(phantom of the opera-most talented and incredibly powerful soundtrack I have ever in my life witnessed)
I love orchestra and listen to some opera. I do listen to alternative rock also, and every once in a while a punk rock/pop rock band will show up that I like (such as greenday, boxcar, and HOT HOT HEAT *new band which I looooove)
I'm also into a lot of darker music ex; slipknot, nightwish, coheed and cambria (my all time favorite emo band)

some of my all time favorite bands: Wallflowers, Dave Matthew's band, Coldplay

i love pop music!! also, i like bullsh.t too!! =) forgot to tell you, i like to shove bullsh.t into people's mouth for hating something that i like.. i mean, if u hate something, plz keep it to urself.. why make it worst for others?? i'm trying to create peace here, but people want to create enemies.. i'm not afraid of anything-even if i die, i'll die with pride!! by the way, for those of u who like pop music, you should stand up for what you like!! i guess i'm the only one in here who like pop music! oh well!!.. =)

Just thought.. there are a couple of more modern female artists I like.

    Bjork's Debut is fantastic.

The Bangles always make me grin and remind me of my childhood.

Favourite band right now: Presidents of the USA (disappointed by Slipknot's latest effort)

    Jessica: you idiot.

did I direct my comment to anyone? no. I simply stated why pop is in my opinion complete bull. Do I care whether or not you live or die or create enemies or befriend or whatever the hell you're doing? no. shut-up
People can say negative things if they want, that's opinion, statement, argument, realistic views, whatever you want to call it.

    Onto other things...
bjork is a talented artist. I also appreciate Nora Jones (though they have nothing to do with each other) Umm there aren't that many female artists I like either. I was starting to get into Anna Nalick until I listened to the rest of her album and found it was complete crap

-scratch that, Gwen Stefani is awesome.
i don't listen to a lot of her music, mainly it's just party pop, but I have to appreciate her as an artist. She's too cool

I don't think there is anything much worse than female front rock groups, personally. Women in bands belong on the Bass. It's easy and Freudian, two birds with one stone.

Oooh.. Norah Jones.. yeah.. thankfully she doesn't do pop.

Sadly, it's true. I do not know of one female rock star that truly blew me away. now opera and broadway stars, those women are incredible, but not in rock.

prime example: have you heard of 'The Donnas'?

-also Mariah carey. though I cannot stand R & B I HAVE to appreciate her voice. She's possibly one of the most talented female artists of all time

-THEN AGAIN Gwen did rock my world before she entered the pop world. But it still wasn't really rock, more punk or sky i think. nevertheless she did an awesome job, and she's still a fantastic performer, just too "poppy"

Always seemed to me that all girl bands wind up having an agenda and regardless of any talent on show it shines through and puts me off completely.

Very few of today's bands play music for music's sake. As soon as fame rears it's ugly head they almost immediatly think their opinion means more than anyone elses.

But then that's an age old problem. There's only one mainstream band I truly hate, U2. There is nothing worse than a band that uses celebrity to earn money for terrorism. I'd love just 5 minutes in a sound proofed room so I could make Bono sing. How can a man who condones the use of car bombs 'earn' Humanitarian of the year?

    PAPA ROACH
    PUSSY CAT DOLLS

"There's only one mainstream band I truly hate, U2."...
"How can a man who condones the use of car bombs 'earn' Humanitarian of the year?"

    I praise you.
People describe Coldplay as the next U2, I tell them to die.

"Very few of today's bands play music for music's sake."
Yesss many of my older favorite bands have given into the fame intrigue...ruining their talents.
ex; Jewel. Being indeed a man you most likely didn't listen to her, but she had incredibly poetic music and it was sung beautifully....then she came out with this hideous "intuition", I nearly died of disgusted shock, it was actually embarrassing.

ahhh I forgot to mention Michael buble

I don't listen to any other jazzy music but he's an exception. he's incredible, amazing talent, no doubt.

Actually it's really only his song "You know how I feel" that I'm on love with.

    ok, I'm done

ppl who have read my work/seen my posts know that my all-time favorite band is MATCHBOX20!!!!!!

The frontman, Rob Thomas, is a beyond-excellent songwriter. He inspires me every day. His voice is AMAZING, and he plays all these different kinds of instruments. Multi-talented.....

In his young days he was kinda adorable. *awwww*

But i really like Kyle too *awwwwwwwwwwww!!!* he also has a great voice and is perfect playing guitar.

    Well that's my band. :P
