No, no marvel evolutionary step or a way of playing God. You can't breed out stupidity, or ignorance. It is something either learned from or taught by society in general.

I think that if God didnt want us "playing" him, he wouldnt have granted us the technological capacity to remotely do so.

How about the idea that genetics is a new page in human development that God has allowed us to read?

God allows to use technology, it is up to us to use it properly.

People misuse fire for arson. Does that mean we should prevent everyone from using it?

The subject content, be it the use of fire, driving a car, using the internet or genetics are irrelevant. It isn't what we have it is how we use it.

From my point of view God feeds titbits of discovery to us mere mortals to find in our own time. As he has no influence over free will he cannot make us use it responsibly or demand that we do so, he can only show us the button, we have to push it ourselves.

Remember that diseases like AIDS are put on earth by God as well, directly or otherwise. If people contract such a disease or contract Cancer is it morally correct to undo God's work? Of course it is. And by recognising such a theory we should fully consider everything genetics can offer mankind too.

Life is a test, we should explore everything we can to its fullest extent. Responsibly, of course.
