Now that's what I call odd!!

I want to talk about coincidences. You know, the eerie coincidences that happen. For example, you think of someone you haven't seen in years and they phone you within seconds of that thought etc etc. Jung called this type of experience 'Synchronicity'. He believed that we're tapping into an unknown area of our brain/s on a 'shared' level - or something like that - and so for him, they wern't conincidences at all!

What are your experiences of these weird and wonderful 'coincidences?'

I text and ring people when they are about to ring me, I will be thinking about someone and then they will ring, I know hwo is gonig to be on the phone before I answer it, I will be singing a song in my head and then someone else will start singing that EXACT same bit (I was singing a really old Blue song, and it then came on the radio :O )
I say things at the same time as close friends.

Many other things have happened, it's strange really!

My wife and I spoke about an old friend, Mark who emailed us two days later. In the same conversation we speculated about my best army mate, Fred, who had fallen off the map three years ago. He rang up drunk and laughing three days after that.

Im in Essex, Mark is in Suffolk and Fred is in Manchester. I would have suggested some weird telepathic resonance, but I'm really not sure if the distances involved are feasable, though I guess anything is possible.

Also, my sister and I are closely linked somehow. I knew the minute she went into labour both times even though we live about 20 miles from each other. She also knows when I'm having a relapse before I call anyone.

We used to do the card reading thing, haven't tried that since we were kids though.

I'm certain we send out empathic waves of some kind but how these could be measured is something I would dare to speculate about. I would presume that this is a part of strange coincidence or Jung's 'Synchronicity'.

I have a friend, an ex girlfriend to be exact. When ever I'm down emotionally she will ring me. She seems to know instinctively! This might happen 3 times in one year - but it happens, and it always startles me. Bearing in mind we've been separated for twelve years and both live miles apart.

I also experience 'clustering', I'll call it. That's when a series of events combine that are either favourable or unfavourable. And, yes, they usually come in threes (like British buses). I seem to be on a favourable 'cluster' right now - that's the reason for the topic, I guess.

Bret: read Jung's 'Synchronicity' - boy oh boy does it take some understanding! Now that's a challenging book. Not many pages either. You'd think Paul Mckenna had written it, due to the fact that all you want to do is: 'sleep!' zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

'empathic waves'.....I like that.

Here's a recent one, Vagabond II mentions Dyer's Eve by Metallica as a song to listen to... yurp, guess what I'm half way through.

But that one is just pure coincidence.

I get deja vu four or five times a day, but that's because of a chemical imbalance in me noggin. it's proven that deja vu is a physical phenomenon where one side of the brain recieves a piece of information more quickly than the other.

However, if you ask me deja vu is just bloody annoying.

I have two coincidinces(sp) that have happened recently. and they both relate to each other, coincidently.

I was away at a camp for two weeks, and I went to lie down on my bed. I wasn't exactly dreaming, just half asleep-half awake stuff, and I saw someones face who I used to be very good friends with. She went to texas a few months back. When I was driving home from camp with my parents they told me that she came by the house to see if I wanted to say bye to her before she moved for good. I just thought it was a weird coincidence that I saw her in my dream and around the same time she came back to Germany to see all her friends, and moved before I come back.

And...same camp...same week. My dad went TDY to Virginia (where I used to live) and visited my bestest friend. and then when he got back that person from the above coincidence came over to my house to say goodbye. And then, I found out that someone whom I used to know about 5 years ago was at the SAME camp. So we talked and all that. AND THEN....at the graduation of the camp, my very good friend who I haven't seen in 5 years (this is a different person from the one I saw at camp.) came to the graduation dinner.

So...in essence....I lost two great friends. But I reunited with two old friends. fucking crazy if you ask me. It was very overwhelming. sorry if i confused you any.

I don't know if this is exactly what you're referring to but I work in a bookshop and whenever a title stops selling and I start wondering why someone always comes in and buys it within the hour :)

The other week I was on the phone and got put on hold, and after I hung up my dad starting singing the exact hold music I'd been listening to, even though he'd been at the other end of the house whilst I was on the phone and not listening on the other line.

When we were children, my brother and I once had exactly the same dream on the same night.

I stopped the end of the world, but then white boys started rapping.

It was terrible.

^^ That's the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. That's including the things that I myself say.
