Song lyrics in poems?

Well i have a poem...that i turned into a song by adding stuff but i just left it as a poem on the site..

i did once but it was because my x bf used to say it to me al the time and whe we broke up i put it as the opening to the poem, so i guess it depends on how you use them.

Adriana, I believe I know what you're referring to, and yes, that would indeed be plagerizing, because as far as I know, you didn't credit the original author and tried to pass it off like you wrote it.

I used song lyrics once, in a poem that I wrote with the recurring symbolism of Keith Richards (it made sense, I promise). I did put it in quotes though, and I think it was made pretty clear that those words weren't my own. I work titles of songs in often as well. If used properly, I think this can be a really effective technique in poetry, especially if your audience can identify.
