how many of you believe that in order for something to be called a poem it must rhyme?

there are thousands of differnent kids of poetry. They do not have to rhyme

No I don't think they have to rhyme . I write my poems based on life experiences or just how I feel about something that day. Lots of great poets write stuff that even I don't understand but to someone else they're a masterpiece?????

Rhymes are not neccessary at all...unless they're for forms of poetry that are required to rhyme in order to create that poem.

everything that everyone said above i agree with. there are a lot of good poems that don't rhyme. infact not rhyming to me is better then a forced rhyme.

That's bollocks, some of the best written poems do not rhyme at all!

No i dont think they have to rhyme but you should have seen my english teacher trying to tell us that - she doens't know anything
and she was teaching us about poetry conversations... it was so funny and every student got so frustrated...
