Nice to see you back and know you've been doing well, Tamar.

I'm not very hopeful that the growth in obesity can be reversed. It seems to be a permanent side effect of having a highly industrialized economy where manual labor and physical exertion have been replaced by automation. 125 years ago most people were still employed in agriculture. Life was much tougher and exercise came from the work performed. Now most of society has a pretty sedentary lifestyle.

*Most* people are resistant to exercise. And most people enjoy fattening snack foods and junk food. And I think people are already aware of the health risks of obesity. I could be wrong but I really don't see the trend changing.

I think one of the main obesity problems is the number of fast food restaurants. It's so convenient just to drive through McDonalds and get a nice breakfast without leaving your car.
I don't think the percent of the population that is obese can be lowered mostly because of the way it is handled. When you take one of those "rapid weight-loss" programs or whatever they are, you immediately gain the weight back after the program is over in most cases(from what I hear). It is better and safer to lose it naturally, which people just don't seem to have time to do.

I agree with what's being voiced here. It's all about taking personal responsibility.
