I'm not happy with Britain pledging £20 million to Pakistan in the light of the recent earthquke. Their own country are doing nothing and I don't see why we should. It was only a few months ago they were burning effegies of Blair and Bush in the streets. So why should we? And anyway, prior to that it was millions for the Africa appeal; prior to that millions for the Tsunami appeal etc etc etc.

Clearly, we have millions living in poverty and millions who are homeless in this country thanks to the government who closed all the 'nut houses' down under the banner of their 'care in the community' programme - what a fucking euphemism that was!!

Charity should begin at home. We're being far too generous to other countries who don't give a flying fuck about us in the great scheme of things! And so we should be sorting our own problems out and not other peoples'. Chances are the money will be squandered before it gets to the needy. anyway!

What opinions, if any, do you have on this?

Mel has a point though don't you think?

Uk charities doing amazing work with homeless people, drug addicts, child abuse etc etc are knocked back for extra funding all the time because apparently there isn't enough money.

On the other hand one of the reasons we are so rich as a country is because of exploitation of other countries...so maybe we should be helping out...but yeah...i was raised to believe charity begins at home...and it's a fine sentiment. We would as a nation be in a much stronger position to assist socially and in every other manner the needs of other countries if the social and economic problems of our own land were seriously addressed and supported by the government.

Im sorry to say I have to totally agree with Mel here. Why are we always expected to help other countries ALL the time. To be honest, what do they do in return for us?

For example at school next week it's nonuniform day so you pay £1 to wear non uniform. Well it's breast cancer week next week, but instead of givng towards the breast cancer charity, they're giving all the money to Romania, to fix up children's homes. I feel trying to beat breast cancer should have a priority over fixing up a home.

Oh and also, there are thousands of homeless people in the UK, a lot of which are children and the government have trouble funding them, but they are able to give £38, 000 a year to illegal immigrants staying in house. Would you call that justice for the people who actually live here?

Well, these countries can afford the nukes and the armies, then they can take care of themselves. That's not PC, but, hey, niether is some of the shit they throw at us!

    Mel-
You have to feed your people, or you will have an riot. Look at all the revolutions in our Histoy. You have to feed your people first! America has problems like that too. Giving welfare to imagrants, but not taking care of the homeless.
    Its all mixed up...
