I had to read that book for school a couple years ago, and I was wondering how many ppl have read the book and what your thoughts on it were. I really love that book and it inspires me to stick with my life, because it reminds me that there are people that are worse off than me... I think that it's amazing that he has come so far after being through so much.

I saw him on Oprah as well, and am so amazed that he's come this far after being tortured so badly...

I don't know, I was just wondering what you all thought about it... Thanks for taking the time to read this

Ooh I read it a couple of months ago, thought it was so powerful and moving. I cried so much through it, it was so emotional. Amazing how he had uch a strong will to survive.

That book was amazing. A terrible life that Dave had to go through. Just imagine if the only time you felt safe was when your father was around. It really showed how determined he was to live after all those neardeath experiences.

I bought all three books for my daughter. "A child called it" was a very sad read. I can't imagine a child going through so much. The part that stunned me the most was when his mother stabbed him & his father told him to get his work done so he wouldn't get in any more trouble. You would think he would have taken him to the hospital, or at least helped him. I think both of his parents should be put away for life. They are sick people.

I heart that book, I even wrote a poem called "I Still Love You" based on that book and by the song "Concrete Angel" by Martina Mcbride.

I believe his first book was his best so far.

Last year, I was tried to convince our Health teachers and English teachers to order that book for the students to read. After reading that book, I was inspired to do many great things.

If you haven't read it yet, read it now.

I agree with you, Atomic. I think that his first book was the best so far. I cried so much while reading it, yet, at the same time, I couldn't put the book down for a second. I am so amazed at his strength and will to survive. I consider him a hero of mine.

That was the first book that ever made me cry. Its heart-wrentching especially how his brothers started treating him and how the school did nothing. A remarkable book for anyone looking for a powerful and meaningful read.

I used to really love that book but then i found out that its only 50% true so i stopped readin the series after that! His brother also writes books on that time to show that it wasnt as bad as dave peltzer portrays it to be!

I love a child called it and the sequall the lost boy and the sequall to that a man named dave.. I absolutely love Dave Pelzer for going through everything he did when everybody he loved was dying on him.. It is really sad... And I think his brother was just mad and thats why he "supposivly" wrote a book telling his veiw.. Haven't anybody ever thought that his brother wasn't there all the time and while daves mom would throw him down the stairs his brother/ brothers were sleeping.. So I absolutely think it is 100% true!

I think it's true of couse. Mymomdidn't think it was a good book for me to read considering I was like 12 but I did . I was amazed with the book it was all so sad . .

Gemma, it was not 50% true, it was completely true. He was the 3rd worst child abuse case in the state of California. His brother is probably just trying to make it sound like it wasn't that bad, but David's books are all true.

i read the book in 7th grade and it completely shocked me, it was an awesome book and i'd had no idea the extent to which child abuse went, especially in seemingly functional families. i always supposed that they were dysfunctional and/or poor families and what not. it opened my eyes to a lot of things in this world that i really didn't want to know when i was 13, but im glad i know now...

The horrifying situations good ol' Mom put Dave in make me shudder. Monster. The chlorine gas treatment was what got me. The whole thing sends chills down my spine. Can we really even call Dave's mother a human being?
