To tell the truth, I know nothing about sonnets, and haikus, and all the other fancy things. I hardly know anything about grammar, either, thats why Im not too suprised that my poems arent very good, but they let out emotion, and thats the most important thing. |

i only know a couple of forms of poetry but i'm trying to learn some more because they bring in some new ways to put your thoughts on paper. but i don't think that the styles are needed to know about poetry. i think that the way to know poetry is having a passion for it and being able to appreciate other people's work. |

I agree with Bob...poetry is open to interpretation and individual taste. Flow and content are important...style matters not....I am not a traditionalist and believe that the expression and message matter more than the format. If we color within the lines, the lines never change. |

when i started writing poetry, i do not know what it is all about. lol. and it only make sense to me. but after joining some forums and such, i grow to know more about poetry, not much, but the basics. like i know there's the free verse, which does not require rthyming. lol. i think this is a great place for us to learn more about poetry, isn't it? i think contiunous writing can help us to understand more, and of course, write better. =) |
