    You might try running Spysweeper.
My son's computer was almost unuseable and that straightened it out.
Don't you just love computers?? We have 5 in our house & I am the only one that knows how to fix them so it keeps me pretty busy.

    Good luck.

    I'm quallified!!
But your problem needs more info... are you actually connected to a server? and if it means the internet server, what internet connection are you using? DSL? dial up? etc?
Also were you connected to a download server?

It's Spyware. Get spybot or adaware, that will fix your problem.

It sounds like spyware. It can really mess your computer up. I would try Spysweeper ($40.00 @ Best buy) It's a pretty good program. I have tried the ones you download and they are crap compared to this one. Try that & Norton or some other anti virus BEFORE you format. It will more than likely fix your problem.

Yes, I am aware that a format will fix a software problem, but why format if you don't have to?
This person has made it clear they do not know a lot about fixing their computer. Therefore I would assume (I may be wrong) that they don't know how to format, reinstall everything and get all the drivers set back up properly.
So, it would be better for them to try running the spyware remover & an anti virus first, instead of jumping straight into a format.

Someone recommended Spybot OR Adaware. You should use Spybot AND Adaware. They each detect different types of malware/spyware/adware. Both are regularly updated. You can download them both and they are 100% FREE.

Sorry Malfist. I misunderstood you then.
I thought you were suggesting this person format their computer.
To me, a format is a last resort...when nothing else works.

    Take care

    You ARE "that age" LOL
I have a houseful of kids "that age"
I do not let them have internet in their rooms either.
You'll understand when you have kids of your own.
    Take care

Sadly, there are a lot of adults and parents doing irresponsible things on the internet as well.
