Christmas use to be celebrated for the birth of Jesus, but as the date isn't even his belived birthday and there is absolutly nothing to do with Jesus in the holiday, I think it's just a tradition of gift-giving and x-mas trees.

It has evolved into a day of gift giving. For me, it is still a celebration of family and friends. I will always hold it in my heart as a day to celebrate life with my loved ones.

It has both a spiritual and a secular significance. In some ways the two overlap, such as in charitable giving and volunteer activity during the Christmas season. But in other ways it has become purely commercial.

Spiritually, Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus and a message of peace, hope and fellowship extending to all people.

To me, Christmas also sybolizes the essence of a bridge from the past leading to the future. And I have strong ties to both.

    Morgan-
My birthday is on Christmas too.

We celebrate our savior on Christmas
We always have a family prayer before we open gifts.
that way the kids don't forget what it is REALLY all about

To me the main reason of Christmas is the birth of Jesus, but Christmas is also a time of being close to those you love, your family and friends. But mainly Christmas means Christ Mass, Christ's Mass which is the Mass where we celebrate the birth of Christ, so Christmas is the birth of Jesus.
