"Put yourself in a forest in nature, with a lion, and we'll see who eats."

No thank you, that would probably kill me, which is no fun. And I don`t see why you even mention that.

"If it wasn't for this unnatural civilization surrounding us we wouldn't have the means to hunt."

Oh really? Then how come we have had the means to hunt and even wipe out entire species before this unnatural civilization ever came? I wonder...

"I strongly believe that animals have a soul, and that it is wrong to eat them"

Good for you, but know that, by saying such, you prove that you have no idea how to debate, and that there is no point in debating with you. You scorn all those who do not share your belief.

How would you like that I made fun of your god?

    "Would you eat your dog?
    Your cat?"

Oh My God....OF COURSE NOT. Why the **** would I do that? Are you completely out of your mind? I would never eat my cat. Do you want to know why?

Because I am very fond of my cat.

    That`s why.

What the **** do even mention that? And don`t dare to say that its the same, to eat your cat and to eat a completely random cow.

"Your're killing and eating an innocent piece of beauty.

I am aware that something must die in order for me to eat. But such is nature, and whatever faith you have, you must accept that we are a part of nature, and that nature is cruel and brutal.

"Animals are too pure, too feeling and majestic to be reduced to a piece of steak"

You should thank your forefathers for not sharing that belief, you wouldn`t have been here had they not had meat to eat.

    "If McDonald's"

Don`t bring Mcdonalds into this, I hate them, and will do whatever it takes to stop them from doing what they do. I never eat there.

"Oh, and if you don't care about the animal, then think about this.
Did you know that thousands of animals are pushed into horridly small pens and mal-treated, under/force fed, fed hormones and other chemicals, then brutally killed, skinned, sometimes while still alive and shipped off to be made into foods that are filled with additives."

We don`t do that over here, we have laws on how animals are to be treated. I cannot see how this has anything to do with me.

"I wonder if you see every animal you've ever eaten in heaven--right, you don't even believe in that..
Or are you scared of that"

I am not scared, and I do not believe in that.

And for gods sake, stop making this a discussion involving your precious god. I don`t believe in him.

    Learn how to debate.

Discussion are to be based upon FACTS.

    You know what they say:

It only takes one grain of rice to tip a fragile balance.

Are you proud of yourself, Ismail?

  • Truest Lies

A mother proud of her children is not a sin...I am not ashamed of the fact that I believe in God.

  • Truest Lies

Never was my intention, dear Ismail.
You seem to have your own pride, as it is.

Pride and vanity are different. I'm proud to be a christian, not vain about it. In His eyes, I am a very small person, but I remember that seen from above we are all the same height.

No...Perhaps I'm happy to be healthier than some, and proud that I have survived the trial of learning to give up unhealthy foods, but that doesn't make me necessarily more wholesome and pure than other people...just happier.

I don't have the power to condemn anyone, and certainly wouldn't if I DID have the power. Which I don't.

If it were the right thing to condemn anyone just because they had different beliefs than you, then God would have done it already.

I was merely saying that perhaps the reason I passed myself off as more wholesome and pure could have been because I'm quite proud of my more wholesome and pure eating habits.

Vegetarianism and veganism are eating habits, as well as beliefs...this topic is called your thoughts on vegetarianism/veganism part 2...so I am talking about my eating habits.

I consider my eating habits to be far better than yours, as I eat both meat and vegatables.

well... some religions do forbid eating meat or certain foods? i think vegetarianism should really depend on what the individual believes, which, religion is something that an individual believes in...

its not only religion but its part of culture too, sometimes religion affects our culture so much, it might become something a community participates and believes in?

anyways.. i'm chinese, and most chinese are buddhists? in our lunar calender we're supposed to eat only veggies on the 1st and the 15th of our lunar months... we follow that sometimes, but not always...

even though im pretty much north americanized, i still embrace my heritage? (possibly because i live in a community where there are many chinese also)... but most of us eat both western and asian food on a regular basis? some of us are vegetarians and some of us almost seem like we're scared of vegetables x.x...

but we're all different, but our diets may influence our health? but personally, i don't like meat that much... i only have a little meat each day and mostly live off rice, potatoes, or grain products

JHarrison, I do eat some fish, but only deep sea fish.

My philosophy is that farm-raised animals are raised in cruelty, and deserve to rest in peace, as well as being unhealthy due to bad diets and maltreatment.

Fish, on the other hand, are very organic. They eat from the sea. Although are killed quite cruelly they manage to live quite a happy life.

With time, I am going to cut out all animals, and eventually most animal products.
As I'm in a growing stage, and forever hungry I find it difficult to follow a strictly vegan diet, but hope that with time I will become a vegan.
I think it helps the environment and our own bodies to be this way, to be natural and thoughtful.

I hope that one day this kindness extends beyond animals and we learn to not kill thousands of people in quite useless wars.

Im going to respond to Mike Glass....

Don't plants have a right not to be eaten? They're alive after all.

Plants don't feel pain. To the nutters that say they do: you are forgeting why we feel pain at all. for one thing plants don't have central nervous systems, brains, or nerve endings. The reason Animals feel pain is a form of self protection. If you touch a burning stove and burn your hand are you going to touch it again?? no.. So pain teaches a being what hurts him/her. Plants cannot move to escape pain so it would be superflous and illogical for plants to feel pain... Animals on the other hand feel pain and emotions, they fear being hurt and most definatly do not want to be eaten.

Some people may hang antlers above their door others put fresh cut flowers in a vase on the table. What's the difference? The difference is you have to kill more flowers in a week to put back in the vase.

See above^ it's not the same. The antlers that are hanging on the wall came from a sentient being, whos last moments on earth were spent being shot at, wounded, and bleeding to death.

How do we know plants don't cheer when they see a deer hunter? "Kill that murderous vegan beast!"
    - We do know they don't do that...as I have explained above.

and to elizabeth(beth). I use to have the same thinking as you, but then I relized that I wouldn't like to be pulled along by a lip ring up into an atmophere I couldn't breath in...Or strangled in a net. And alot of fish come from fish farms, they are by no means organic either.
