Anyone Else Sick And Tired Of Being Stereotyped As Shy!!!??

Argh! It really annoys me! does it anyone else?

I do A leval drama and we have just been picked with no audition for a part in our second unit plays... and my part is boring and tiny. When i asked her why i had the smallest most normal part in an otherwise dark symbolical freaky play her answer was "Because i cant imagine you swearing and shouting and flirting like the other three girls" OMG!

Just because i dont swear after every word doesnt mean i wont for a play... just because i dont go around shouting at every available oppurtunity but instead talk normally and often ignored!

I dont flirt with the guys in class like everyone cos 1.why should i have to 2.I dont fancy any of them and 3. I have a boyfriend! But i would still act the part of a tart! thats the idea of acting.. so yoo can step away from yourself and act as someone else! argh!! and for gods sake just because im not a size 8 and really tall doesnt mean that me and my curvy womanly size 12 cant act like a slut! (one of the characters)

Is any one else sick of being labelled as the shy quiet one and not ever having any oppurtunity to prove themselves otherwise because of the loudmouths in the world!

*calms down* sowi about the rant i just want to know if any one else is sick of there labels.. whether shy or whatever..

Ruby: People think just cos your quiet and have a spaced out look think your on drugs? Wow that is wrong of them... About standing up and wanting top tell them their screwing up your life.. wow i wish i could do the same but like you im not a crowd person.. unless im acting as a character.

And yes they are supposed to give me a chance, your not stupid lol... they just tend to give the best roles to the people they know can act not the people who can act but no one knows.

Its soo troo that the quiet ones are sometimesthe ones that change the world.

Thanks for the rant its nice to know there are other peeps out there labelled unfairly.. no matter how unfair =)

Ugh I know JUSt what you mean. Theatre/acting is my passion and I love it. I worked really hard to prove myself with this one teacher I had and it worked- I showed him that my acting goes further then my personality. But then last year we mounted 'West Side Story' and because I dont look like a 'gangster' I was cast as a smaller role, when a guy who had NO acting skills WHATSOEVER (he could barely ennunciate his damn words!) got the role I wanted which was relatively a greater role. When the final day came around the teacher told me that i did really well and had the voice for auditorium acting and the presence and could tackle roles very well. Too bad it came too late.

I'll admit it, Im shy...but when someone does what they love they can change. Thats me with acting. I hate the way people underestimate shy people. Im with you all the way on that one!

People always think I'm shy but really I'm not I just believe if it's not important why waste the breath

i like that Ismail i agree i am "labelled" a wanna be for a lot of things and i know that it is all lies....ok mostly lies but still i hate being called a wanna be goth or a wanna be boy...i wear boys clothes because i have an older brother who gives me stuff he out grew...but i am a girl all the way and i know it so i dont give a damn what people say i am...unless its a really hot guy then i do care...

Ismail: No I dont want to be labelled a whore at all... what would the point in that be. I just want a chance to proove that i can act and i havnt had that chance before because peeps dont believe i can do it. Did yoo even read that bit? or just jump to conclusions that i wanna be a whore.. Just cos i am a whore in a play doesnt mean i wanna be one in real life... And i am happy with what i have... i just hate being labelled something im not.
