Common Sense

After reading the thread about women and rape i was kind of annoyed about how alistair's post's were jumped on.

O.k. I am going to say this now so i don't have to defend myself later. Rape is not a good thing. I would like to see men who rape people receive the maximum penalty that can be given. I don't think anyone in the world deserves rape. It is discusting.

    Anyway, I think you guys are have misundersood Alistair's post you took his post to mean;

"If a girl wears skimpy clothes she should get rapped"

and what I think he was trying to say (correct me if I got it wrong also)

"A girl wearing skimpy clothes is more likely to get rapped"

Now I didn't see anywhere in his post's where he was looking at rape in a positive view or saying this is what should happen. He was simply saying this IS what happens. Which brings me to my next point:

Do you think people are living in a dream world in that they take loads of unnessisery gambles in life and then when bad stuff does happen to them they wonder why (and by that i don't mean they deserve it i mean that people aren't aware of the dangers around them).

That thread was locked for a reason you know. I think bob and sunny siaid "end of discussion" and that means end of discussion!

Which is why i only refered to that topic rather than carry it on. If you read my new thread you see it isn't about rape, I brought up a different point.
P.S. I wasn't quite sure as to why the other thread was locked anyway...

grrrr! I wasn't justifying it I agree it is unfair all I am saying is that it is not smart to, for example, open a shop without security camera's. No it isn't right that you should have to set up camera's to protect your business but you would be a fool to think that you wouldn't get robbed without them.
By the way, please respond to the second point, and not make this a continuation of the locked thread as I don't want this to be locked as well.

    Beyond:
O.K. everybody read through the whole thread and find where he says that I have looked through it five times and he did not write that. You either got confused or made that quote up...

    I was talking to Beyond.
You have given your oppinion however that doesn't mean other people share your veiw. If you thought it was so blatently obvious why did you respond?

well you're half right I wanted to discuss a similar subject related to the topic. Which is allowed isn't it? without the prior information I would have had to write a lot more explaining the context.

    "Umm...Aaron mate...

Alastair: 'If a girl wears skimpy clothes she SHOULD get rapped'

Aaron: 'I didn't see anywhere in his post's where he was ......... saying this is what SHOULD happen.'

    :)"

I think this is a matter of interpretaion. But hey, im not going to get dragged in to this again, to be told I have no right to input unless I know someone who has been raped, then not to be acknowledged when I told that i did know people very close to me. Whatever. I wont be back to reply to the posts that reply to this one.

I believe it was locked because what was there to say was said and people were just restating everything. that could have gone on forever just saying the same thing. Thats why it was locked not cause the mods didnt like the opinion. Geeze you mods do get a hard time.....

They should learn to look past the words. It makes sense.

But, they allow their own thoughts/opinions/ideals to cloud their judgement. Mob mentality.

Common sense is never all that common.

Aaron, I did not edit, interpret or change your words. I merely cut out some from the middle which was innappropriate, hence the 'dot dot dots', and capitalized the 'should's'. If you look in the second from last paragraph of your post, it is still written there just as I copy and pasted it :)

I was talking abut alistair's quote he did not say anything resembeling that
