    ~Own Two Feet~

Trying to stand on your own two feet,
is a difficult task that we all must complete.
To be living at home, when you don't have to be,
is the worst of tortures, I'm sure you'd agree.

I would hate to be under someone else's rules,
that's why when your younger, you must build all the tools.
To use when you're older, to live life on your own,
you should follow the path, that you've always been shown.

Imagine dealing with parents for more than 18 years,
just that terrible thought, brings me to tears.
I would hate to be locked up again in that cage,
I have to live my own life when I come of age.

Nobody to yell or tell you what to do.
Nobody to ground you right out of the blue.
Nobody allowed to push you around.
Let's all be honest, how good does that sound?

All you have to do is follow three simple rules,
don't drink, do drugs, or make fun to amuse.
As long as you have respect for others and you,
you will live life on your own, as most others do.

    Just a little Chapstick

    A pair of lips intertwined
    Lost beyond life, beyond time
A simple kiss shared, a tremendous meaning
A desperate plea to hope you are not dreaming

    Soft lips, caressing
    Ebbed with love's flow
    Smoothly sending shivers
    Down your spine

In the morning, just a little chapstick
Made its way to your lips
And then the chapped lips faded
To be replaced with soothing care

    A quick flavor of cherries
    The scent drenching the air
    Just a little chapstick
    To aid one in despair

The blood has faded, the cuts are gone
From the once soft lips that had turned cracked and rippled
Pop off the cap, twist a distance
And there is the prescription to your ailment

A little kiss that didn't hurt
    Smacking cherry chapstick.

    Scab

A big scab on my knee
I put on pants so nobody can see
It holds back all the pain
All the tears that pour like rain

My scab is red as can be
But it just can't hurt me
It heals me when I hit the ground
and it doesn't even make a sound

    Scabs are different in everyway
they can be red, purple,or even gray
They didn't come to hurt me
They just came to heal for free

I look one more time to see it
But it dissapeared and I couldn't believe it
My scab was gone and so was my cut
My scab left everything looking uncut!

    Pickle
    By:Poonam

    emerald green, oblonge
    strips of white paint
    spattered on a deformed
    body, strangly humane
    placed in a clear sarcophagus
    with others of its kind
    drowned in preserving liquid
    suffocated, airtight
    hidden in frigid air
    alone yet surrounded by many
    waiting to be taken
    a satisfying gift
    stuck in a tomb
    stuck in ice air
    stuck in a pickled body

    Running Foot
    ------------------------

    Slamming down upon the ground
The foot that runs, proud and fast
This foot barely makes a sound
As the runner streaks on past

    Naked, without it's running shoe
    Blistered without its protection
Cold and wet, foot turns to blue
    Through the scars, seeps infection

This single foot needs little aid
To make it through the fastest race
A lot or a little may be paid
To stop this foot from losing grace

    Bandaged, plastered ready now
Once again, it starts to run
    Pounding, flat against the ground
    The running foot has won!

Heh - reading through everyone's poems - they were great by the way - I think it's funny how different people have written different poems. For example, I would have personally written about a scab, from the scar of a slit wrist. Maybe I'm just emo lol.

    Peace. [Sole]
