Everwood vs. 7th Heaven

So, as you may or may not know, with the merging of the WB and UPN, they've had to drop a few of their shows. "7th Heaven" aired its series finale on May 8th, so viewers like me thought that from SERIES, it meant it would not be returning. The WB pulled some strings, due to better ratings from the finale, and "7th Heaven" is coming back for at least another year. Yay for you all that enjoy it. But the thing that broke my heart was that: "Everwood" did not survive the merge!

I think "Everwood" is a modern, realistic gem that should have lived to see better days. The show captured how people react when they are faced with difficult decisions, and it never seemed like we were force-fed a good-hearted lesson. The purpose was delicately played out with casual dialogue, and for this I will miss "Everwood" dearly.

"7th Heaven" promotes good family values and teaches lessons, I will admit, but at times I found that the dialogue was stilted and awkward. And my favorite example of "What are the chances of that?" is during the season 10 finale, when three of the Camden kids announce they are having twins. I know twins run in the family sometimes, but seriously? And although some people say this show is very good and family friendly, I think of how unrealistic and forced it is sometimes. It was a good show to start with, but I think we've learned all the lessons there are to learn. It's time to say goodbye.

*sighs* I feel better now. My rant is done.
And if you think "Everwood" did deserve to get the ax, or that I'm crazy for not liking "7th Heaven", go ahead, I'll listen (or read, in this case).

    Happy ranting.
