England doesn't have a good history in winning on penalty kicks.

that's very true. Everyone says england has the best team they've had in years, if that was really true, they would have won the match today and done better in all the others!

You mean won the match? Yes. But Portugal is very good too. They almost won Euro 2004.

i think portuagl is a better team anyway, but england really need to work harder, and rooney needs to control his anger! I mean, he's one mad guy!

^^He didn't actually foul, so I don't see how his 'anger problems' have disrupted his playing?x

so gutted by the match, I think the ref called a lot of questionable judgements.
England do have a good time, they weren't playing the best though.
Plus Beckham was out of the second half, joe cole had to be taken off to put a striker on because rooney got taken off, Owen had to leave the tournament.
I think England played the best they have today in comparison to all the other matches, Portugal is a good team and they managed to defend until penalties.

I'll say what most don't have the courage to:

Hispanic and Medeterrainian teams have brought footy to a new low. The whole tactical foul BS is a blight on football and it really is sad to see players of undoubted quality diving and rolling around screaming to get free kicks and their opponents carded. Granted the refereeing hasn't been great but it wouldn't be an issue if the people on the pitch weren't cheating so badly (examples: Maniche being touched on the shoulder, screaming and holding his face, Ronaldo (Portugal) touching a boot so as to make contact on the way down. Ronaldo (Brazil) diving in and out of the box without contact when 1-0 down)

This has been the worst World Cup I have seen, and I've seen seven, with only one match played in the proper spirit of the game by BOTH teams, Brazil vs Japan. And that was only because it was a nothing match.

The play acting, diving, and generally attrocious attitude from nearly every player playing this world cup has put me off international competition.

Seriuosly, most of these guys have either got severe ear infections or are cheating. Simple as that.

Roll on the new season of the Premiership. MLS will have to make do until then.

I've heard that this is the best English team since like ever...
    Penalty shoot-outs are the worst..
    Good game though.

You're right Bret, and it's probably because people want to win SO BADLY that they do all that stupid s. The best world cup in my opinion was '94... But where did the old good times go?

'90 for me, Toto Schillachi was amazing in a very physical Italian team (Franco Baresi and Paolo Maldini are football GODS), England made the semis and were knocked out on penalties, I believe the late 80's and early 90's were the best years of my footballing life, hopefully it will turn a corner soon...

p.s. I sent FPF (the Portuguese football Association) the FIFA fair play code of conduct, I'm sure they've never read it. I doubt they'll reply, though. *grins*
