The Upside-Down Flag Incident

Maybe it's too old to bring up, but here it is:

On March 27 2006, students at a California high school, Montebello High, took down the American flag, put up the Mexican flag, and re-hung the American flag UPSIDE-DOWN (which, for those of you that don't know, is a sign of national distress)

NOTE: The incident occured AT Montebello High, not BY Montebello High students.

This was stated to be a protest about the Immigration Bill in US Congress. I'm all for free speech, but this seems a little too...what's the word? Treason seems too strong. Hmm... help me out here.

What do you guys think of it?
