question about downvoting

Who honestly votes a 2 for poem? I mean seriously, I can't think of the last time I voted that low for something. Even if I don't like a poem, there are certain amount of points deserved for style, for the fact that other people might love it just because I don't, and for the fact that I think a "2" level poet has gotta be like eight years old, if that. *sigh* I swear people downvote just so other people get lower scores than they have.

This totally upsets me. I know this is very much the wrong forum for this so I'll tie it in with a poem reading request..

I have a few poems that have been downvoted, or not voted on at all. If you have the chance, go through some of my older stuff and vote/comment. I'll return the favor on a factor of two - 2 for 1, that is.

I have given a poem a 2 but then explained in the comment why I did this. Of course some poems can deserve a 2. We wouldn't have this option if there weren't any poems that did.

Oh I'm not saying some don't deserve a 2. I'm just saying that it's rare, usually, and really shocking to someone who really likes something they wrote to have some random person vote a 2 and not tell you why. That kind of reads "I'm a jerk, I want my score higher than yours" to me.

I have been thinking the same thing...but I realized the votes mean nothing as people abuse the privelege of voting...it should be taken off the site completely as people will always down vote for whatever reason...becuz if you notice the poeple who down vote do not leave comments.
I honestly belive that if you leave a low vote (as some may deserve) than you should always leave a comment to back up the vote...

Now all I concentrate on is the comments for my poems as those are really all that matter as those are what will help any improvement.
