OPTIONS CONTEST!!!

There are 5 different Options. Put the number of your chosen option next to the poem. (If one option is done too much I may delete an option so that no more can be done on that.)

OPTION 1

Write lyrics (this means it MUST have verses and chorus- heartzonice is excused from doing this because I did not explain this clearly orignally) using ALL the following words:
fragile, butterfly, dream, anticipate, horizon, fractions, gasoline, paper, story, sickness.

OPTION 2

Ever heard Weird Al? He uses songs and changes the lyrics of them to make them funny. Such as Avril Lavigne's song Complicated, turned into this:

OPTION 3

Using either of my quotes below as inspiration, write a poem that takes NOTHER SPIN on the theme of the quote.

"Dear Diary.... everything went wrong today, because I didn't die..."

"The ode of a failure with a gun to my head."

OPTION 4

Write a FREE VERSE poem with inspiration from one of the following image by Gilad Benari (must state which image it is that you used as inspiration):

OPTION 5

Write a SHORT story which has a theme of spirits (that includes ghosts, or the spirituality of your beliefs) or fantasy.

Will end when I have the time to judge and there is enough entries, I will give a date a few days before I end the contest.

Does it have to be free verse?

I might use the third picture

i really like option #4, but does it have to be freeverse? can't it rhyme?

I really didn't think
my mind was completely blank that day
the only thought in my mind
was that there couldn't be a better way
All I knew..
was that I could no longer exist
Exhausted from the constant torture
I could no longer tune out their harsh words
& that thought just became to hard to resist
I chose to cut it short
it was the only way I told myself
the only way I could be free
the only way to stop the tears
the only way I could just..be
it may have been drastic
or completely absurd
but in my mind
I could no longer take it
& I chose to keep my word
in my mind
I had already given up
I had no hope
not an ounce of strength
or even the will
to just go one more day
the only voice that I heard
was the one that told me
over & over
"you don't have to stay"
& that all I had to do
was take the gun & blow my life away...

Lose your Meal

Look, if you had, one shake, one slice of chicken, to eat anything you ever wanted, one time, would you eat it, or go hungry?

Hey, my mouth is watery, eyes weak, jaw is heavy, there’s drool on my bib already, I’m forgetting I'm hungry, but on the surface I look calm but starving, I’ll drop jaw, but I wait must to get it, but its so sad, I’m getting flipping mad, I just want my food. I get it, ahh I'm choking now, ate so fast I'm chocking, PLOW!

Snap what ima do? Oh there does oxygen, oh there goes oxygen, CHOKE! I’m so mad, but I won’t stop that easily, no I want it now, I know that chicken is stuck in my throat, hmmI feel like toast, quick get it out me, *cough* there that’s better, so bring the toast now so I can eat it, wow.

You better lose your meal when your finished or else you’ll get fat. Just be like all the celebs in Hollywood and chuck it so you are still good.

This contest is pretty hard but YES i want FREE VERSE for Option 4, break out of peoples comfort zone!

Ruins

Seeing the ruins of my life
Crumbled beneath this humid sky,
Unsure of where to begin,
I stand here in awe!

Amazed at how something
So sturdy could crumble so
Quickly, so unexpectantly, so soon!
I wait here under this humid sky!

Watching as the clouds soon take
Over the sky and quietly sufficate
Any glimpse of sunlight or hope
I had left in my tin-can of a heart!

This tree cautiously looks upon the
Pitiful ruins of my life and past,
Overlooking the happy times, and only
Sorrow is to be be seen today!

Silent Hope...

Out of this battle-torn world,
Ruined bit of land,
This tree of hope flickers in the dark.
It is all we have.
As it stands there still,
motionless, like a statue,
A statue frozen by time.
This war keeps on going,
Life rushes by.
Tick tock tick tock…let it all stop.
This tree of hope guide us,
Slowing down time, putting life on pause.
Its leaves are white, colorless and shallow.
It allows our imaginations, to fly free.
We get lost in images that we want to keep.
Wishing for love, rest and peace.
For a short moment we have escaped,
Escaped from this battle-torn world,
Ruined bit of land.
BOOOOM… this crystallized tree shatters,
Tick tock tick tock… time rushes by.

Phoebe, free verse means that the poem doesn't rhyme, doesnt have a set structure, you just let the words and emotions flow.

I might close this in a week or so if i dont get any more entries

THis was definatly THE hardest contest I've ever judged! These poems were Brilliant without exception and encouragement to ALL Poets.

Based on style, originality and vocabulary these are the results.

i liked it, it was original, it fit really well with the rhythm of the actual song and that was a really hard choice and i thought you did really well with it!
