Karate

Does anyone (who does karate) know about the "high" that you get, when your spirit overcomes your exhaustion? It's strange, I get so tired, I promise myself that I'll never do anything like that again... but after I have forgotten the pain, there's just something so special about it...

I passed my first test in goju ryu, an experience I may not want to go through again, like childbirth or something, but I know that after a while the wish to advance will overcome my fear.

I also have another question... does anyone have any tips on how you get to the point of fitness where you have visible abdominal muscles?

I know you wrote this post for people that do karate, but I'm gonna respond even though I don't do karate. I do know how you feel though. I do cross country and when I'm running I always think "Why do I do this to myself?", but when you're done you just get such a great feeling from having done it! I also have advice on the muscle question because we have to work out a lot in cross country. Do crunches and sit-ups. One of the better kind of crunches I know for getting muscles is doing crunches, but with both of your legs about 6 inches in the air; it's hard. Also, ok, this is going to be hard to explain but I'll try...Get into a push up postition, but have your elbows on the ground and use your forearms(rest them on the ground along with your elbows) and feet to support you--- hope you understood that =P

Yes, I know what you mean, I use to take Karate when I was much younger, I was a brown belt in Kempo Karate.

    As for showing your abs...

To lose fat effectively and permanently for your abdominal muscles to show, you must include a mildly deficit calorie restriction diet, frequent cardio workouts and strength training with weights to build muscle so as to raise your metabolism in order to lose weight and burn fat naturally. Your weight loss goals will not be achieved effectively or permanently when any one of the three elements is done wrongly or not even incorporated in your slimming program. I repeat the three elements again :-

    a) A mildly caloric deficit diet - A mildly caloric deficit diet to help you lose weight.

    b) Frequent cardio workouts - Frequent cardio workout to exercise your heart and lungs and burn fat at the same time.

    c) Weight Lifting to build muscles - Build muscles to burn fat permanently as muscles use up more calories from your food for energy. Lifting weights will also give you a well toned body and help your abs to show.

Forget about any fad diets or popping slimming pills . These may work initially but in the long run, they are bound to fail.

    Hope that helps :)

    ^^Thank you.

The diet I need to begin, and I was hoping to take up jogging and running.. just as an amateur thing in the park, and of course with the actual karate classes... my dad is also planning that I go weight-training with him and my sister... I think that thirteen is probably a little young to start working for abs. What do you think? Anyway, as something like this could take years, I will work anyway :-)

I have watched it on tv and wanted to try it at one time. My son made it to a brown belt.

^^Actually it is not young, with Abs it is actually easier to develop them when you are younger, it is harder when you are older.
