Whales...

I was just reading the question about fox huntin' and I wanted to get the opinions on what people think on whale killing...
Are you for or against?

Depends on the region.

The japanese over-whale but the scandanavians make a thriving industry of it whilst staying within reasonable limits.

The question should have been shark netting, not whaling. It should not be about what we kill, cull or harvest, but how much we use what we catch/reap.

True, but what I meant was the "over-whaling" and that does bring up another good discussion... shark netting! I am on the same level as you...

I don't think they should be exterminated but there is a lot of meat in a whale.

My daddy was watchin this show on the Discovery channel and it said that some places catch whales and kill em and then put their bodies ad stomach contents on display to show that they don't eat people!!Oh wait a sec... they catch sharks not whales never mind!!

Japan whaling is way out of control...they use nets...as large as two football fields...they throw these nets on the bottom of the ocean...and sweep EVERYTHING in its path...so many innocent sea animals are dying because of this uncivilized and selfish method Japan has. Greenpeace has done a lot to try to stop them...You guys should go check out the video at greenpeace.org...It's very educational...But if you have a weak stomach, try not to watch the whole video...It's heart-breaking how they're tortured...

I don't think they should! becaause a whale only ever has one child! and so if we wipe out one of them then how do we expect it the population to grow? it can't!!

I hate this topic. No way should people do it. And I think we need to go put a net on japan and sweep everything up and see how they freakin like it.

Genoveve, that show was in relation to beach nets that prevent the majority of sharks getting near popular beaches in Austrailia.

If a shark is dead I think it is waste if that shark is not then used to make people more aware. Once awareness is high enouigh again the nets can come back down.

As for Greenpeace, they're eco-terrorists who need to act like normal people and go through normal channels. You'd ahve thought that they have never heard of the UN or local government.

Yep, if you support Greenpeace you support terrorism. You think I'm wrong? Take an in depth look at what they have done over the years and come back with a sensible argument explaining their behaviour.
