One of my superstitions is whenever i see a single magpie i HAVE to salute it!
I do it without thinking now, i've been doing it that often! lol
It's okay if there's two of them, cos it's two for joy and what not, but if there's one of them, i have to salute it or i get bad luck, lmao.

Oh, and i never step on three grids in a row, i always jump over or sidestep the third one

    (I'm not wierd =)

Whenever my kids and i are in the car after dark and see a car with one headlight, we always tap the dashboard twice, kiss our hand and touch the roof of the car. Crazy, i know, but have been doing it for years. Don't really know why.

I'm very superstitious about walking in front of fast moving cars. Bad things will happen, I firmly believe it.

I guess I'm not superstitious... but I had a good laugh when I realized my sister had been invited to a friend's house on an unlucky day... or is it a lucky day? Who knows.
Anyway, I mostly just had a quick laugh over it.

When I was in elementary school we had a good amount of lucky things to do while going over any railroad on the buss. 1. Touch a screw, 2. If the person next to you can't touch a scew lock pinkys with them so they get your good luck too. 3. lift one foot off the ground. 4. unlock an put food down only after you have FULLY passed the rail road.

I was a bit disapointed when I found out that the middle school/high school buss doesn't do any of that.

    Category Good Luck Superstitions
Good Luck: Fingers Crossed - By making the sign of the Christian faith with our fingers, evil spirits would be prevented from destroying our chances of good fortune.

Good Luck: Knock on Wood - It was believed that good spirits lived in trees, and that by knocking on anything made from wood, we could call upon these spirits for protection against misfortune.

Good Luck: Saying God Bless You When Somebody Sneezes. When the great plague swept Europe., sufferers began sneezing violently which was a sign of death. The Pope therefore passed a law requiring people to bless the sneezer. At the same time, it was expected that anybody sneezing would cover their mouth with a cloth or their hand. This was obviously to stop the spreading of the disease, but many believed that it was to keep the soul intact. Sneezing 'into the air' would allow the soul to escape and death would be imminent. Up until this time, the opposite was true. Those who sneezed were congratulated, as it was believed that a violent sneeze would expel evil from their bodies.

Good Luck : To have one's garments caught up by a bush or briar when out walking is a promise of good luck, involving monetary gain.

Good Luck: New enterprises will be fortunate if begun at the time of the new moon.

Good Luck: If by chance you meet the same person twice when you are out on business. It is even luckier if you encounter him once when you are setting out and again when you are returning.

Good Luck: Dolphins swimming nearby a ship

Good Luck: A naked woman on board a boat is said to calm the seas.

Good Luck: Golfers can have a successful day on the course if they start their round with odd numbered clubs and don't use balls with numbers higher than 4

My Granny just had a knee replacement Tuesday and Thursday night ...well actually it'd be Friday the thirteenth by then my Granny called my mom at 3:45 A.M and told my mom to come pick her up no matter how much pain she was in because she swear she saw an evil spirit or felt the presence of one..also her wristband said Mr.Stewart instead of Mrs...which would be her husband who tried killing her when she was alive...the nurse wrote her name in pencil and the S rubbed off but it freaked my Granny out...
We think she was hilusonating (sp?) because the doctor said every time he checked on her she was sleeping??...weird

When I was at school, we used to say that give someone a penny for good luck
Or if we walked under a ladder we would have to walk back through to reverse the luck

And my friends birthday is the 13th February and whenever it was friday the 13th we would always give her a present the day before and if we forgot we would have to put a green bow on the top, I dunno why but we did it for years
