Okay... I'm trying to turn this:

    http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b87/FlyingPeoplEater/Pirate/MVC-002S.jpg

    http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b87/FlyingPeoplEater/Pirate/MVC-003S.jpg

Into a pirate themed dress. Advice/support welcomed. It is 100% cotton and devoted to this cause. I have close to 3 days to do it.

HELP! .... If not, laugh at me and my short notice-ness.

    Oooh pretty dress!

I suggest going to a search engine images and earching for pirate dress/female pirate etc. Gather some ideas. Then do some drawings. Piece bits together then start work.

    Good luck!

I was pretty much going to say what Natalie just summed up- but to focus more on the dress: I'd firstly dip the entire dress in a tea AND coffee solution (your looking for a rugged or perhaps a dark look) and then lightly burn the hemming and use some BLACK lace and quickly (but neatly) sew it on at the bottom, leaving perhaps a gap of 1.5 centimetres from the hemline and above. The black lace does not necessarily need to be too thick. It could just be 2 cm in width, perhaps less than that.
The area just underneath the chest: I'd wear a clean but in an odd way, damaged BLACK belt or a top corset (you can find these in undergarment shops, I’m sure). If you use brown, it will only help emphasise the dress alone (if that's what you want, go for it); but if not, use black so it can also compliment the dark eyes and beaded jewellery etc.
And about the jewellery, I would suggest beads (not necessarily circular) but oval or diamond shaped could be experimented with. I would suggest a single long necklace with perhaps more than just one ear ring in each lobe. Long and dangly is the look for a Pirate. For more help on jewellery, I would simply research Jack Sparrow. He seems to wear more beaded crap than any other women witnessed in the films!
I wouldn’t keep your hair a complete mess, for you could try and look like a seemingly attractive pirate. Try curling it using tongs or a hair straigntner. You could add three or four beads to the ends of your hair, like Sparrow does on his dread-locked goatee.
To accessorise a bit more, I’d suggest a black piece of neatly trimmed cloth for you to hold from behind the dress, like a woman on a romantic date would. This could be longer than usual, maybe 1.5 meters long. I don’t know why- just try it out!

Well, that’s all that I can possibly come up with at the moment. I hope it helps and the best of luck!

    -Elysium.

Thank you both tremandously. I've asked varous people at school to help me, and we're trying to get everything orginized so we can go to my friends house and attack this dress. I wasn't sure about a corset, the top of the dress is already relitively tight, and my ribs cage is already basicly breath-ably restricted and I like the button design... Although it's not too piraty.

The skirt part is double layered, so I was considering taring one layer, but not the other more detailed layer (that happens to be on the inside of it).

Thank you so much for the help, I'm going to print this out so I can point to it and your suggestoins while we're working on the dress.
