What does this mean?

We'll be brief: Hemingway once wrote a story in just six words ("For sale: baby shoes, never worn.") and is said to have called it his best work.

I got this off a site my friend linked me, but I dont understand how that was his best work. Can anyone explain, because neiher of us understand the least bit.
