Should Marijuana be made legal?

....What are your views?

Not for commercial pilots or air traffic controllers or dairy cows.

Maybe just for musicians. Oh, and artists and circus performers.

But then everyone would have to be able to have it including the cows.

ahh well i say we should either legalize marijuana or illegalize tobacco. it would be morally right to screw all drugs and just take it easy, but legalization would bring with it more control mechanisms to insure quality and at least a bit of safety, and it would bring additional tax revenues. either way, I wouldn't use it.

I don't think it would ever be possible to outlaw tobacco because government is too hopelessly addicted to it, at least to the tax revenues derived from it.

It is already legal... for treatments and such. But to let it be sold to anyone legally... i think not. We already have so many hazardous sh!t in this world that's legal, we shouldn't make another drug legal. It's harmful to ociety.

Uhhh.... WORSE in what ways? While the niccotine in a cigarette makes the smoker feel like it's a physical need. Weed on the other hand makes a person have mental needs for a smoke, as in it messes with your mind. Especially nowadays where they put crazy stuff in with the grass to make it stronger and more addictive. So yeah, it IS a gateway drug.

i agree with vix but what about the dealers if it is kept as a class c drug they can still get in trouble by the police. just another way of looking at it.
But hey i guess if it was made legal there would be no need for dealers. im talking a load of nonsense pay no attension to me lol

okay... i was set on it staying illegal because you know it just should be... but our street law class had a big discussion on it today in class and it really got me thinking... what is it about this drug that makes everyone want it and why exactly is it so bad? Well so far this is all i have come up with:

~It's bad because we dont need even easier access for people to be getting high all the time... come on!
~It would only lead to other problems in society
~The good things about it is that it will be easier access for those who really do need it.
~I hear it isnt addictive but then why are there so many people who want it? (seriously!)
~Whats the big deal about it... do people want it because they know it is illegal? Like underaged drinking and smoking? something you want because you know you cant have it?

okay, seriously... I think no on this matter... how would legalise marijuana help people from "stop" using drugs??? Im sure we'll know they are no good to us... so I guess if it happens... people at the work force will need to have a cigaratte break as well as a marijuana break... ;) you know what Im saying??

I don't have strong feelings on this. As I walk down the street I'm not stumbling over dead bodies that succumbed from pot abuse so how serious is the harm? ... Otoh like Vix said, I don't want to see the government take over the pot trade.

i dont care because it it is legalized or not people are still gonna do it so it doesnt reall matter to me

I think that legalizing marijuana should be debated and judged on its own merits without comparisons to laws relating to tobacco or alcohol.

It should be legalized and then be taxed to death, maybe thats what they should do to cigarettes.

I think if it WAS made legal it would send society into a 'downward spiral', it may even make or break a country's economy, eg colombia would do well with exports
