Mr. George W. Bush...ouch

personally, i Despise george bush, with a capital D.

in this idiotic and totally uneccessary war we are fighting, more americans have already died in this war then on 9/11, completely demolishing the purpose of the war.

I remember that day so clear, when i was like 9 or 10 years old, Mr. Bush was on T.V. and told Suddam if he doesn't give up his "ultimate weapons of destruction", then America will invade Iraq.

    1. Bush had NO proof of these so called "weapons of destruction"

    2. Just like his daddy, he makes his money based on the OIL companies, which is why he invaded Iraq, for the oil

    3. He is a Republican, so he doesn't care about the enviornment, which is why he's willing to start a war for some $$ in his pocket

    4. I think it was his second year as president, he didn't charge taxes to the oil companies (their taxes are like 3 million- i think? correct me if i'm wrong)

    5. Bottom line, I HATE Mr. Bush, with all capitals.

ooh and thanks Mr. Bush, for adding on another country that totally hates us, and for killing alot of americans! and for starting a war for your benefit!

everyone's entitled to their own opinion, don't bash mine, argue.

Impeachment will solve nothing at all. In fact it will only damage democrat chances in 2008. It won't happen if people keep their heads screwed on. It's a choice of ignorance, not common sense. On the flip side it was insane for republicans to impeach Clinton for a hummer, too.

  • Twisted Heart

This may be off the mark, just a bit, but did anyone watch the president addressing the results of the democratic party's landslide? You know, when asked about what he intended to do while having to work with the democrats, he must have said 100 times or more that they all needed to sit down together, and "work on it".

Typical political whitewash. Then he hurried up and called on another reporter. The fact that the democrats now have the deciding vote, has put him in the hotseat. If he wanted to ignore the issues before, he sure can't do it now.

Now, he is going to be forced to make good the promises that he made when he was running.

Personally, I'm not political. Up until about 10 years ago, I never voted...for anything. I figured what was the use. Politicians were going to do what they wanted anyway.

But when Clinton made good his promise of education and reeducating the teachers... then I started listening.

I'm not campaigning for anything, but even with the democrats in office, the chances of them pulling us out of the mess we're in seems hopeless at times.

    Just my opinion

Bob, yeah I was a tad harsh. I apologise.
But really I don't see the point in complaining about Bush. You can't change anything, is it not all just a waste of time?

George Bush is an idiot and makes our country a laughing stock to the others i hate him for what he does and he cares about noone but hisself...he looks like Smiegal off of lord of the rings.....

  • Bret Higgins

Yeah, that's a rational argument, Ashley.. and it's Smeagle.*

Bush doesn't make the country look like a laughing stock, just look at Iran and Korea, I don't see them laughing. I see one country trying to get away with what they can, pushing and pushing but not daring to over step the mark and the other apologizing for being foolish and wanting to get six way negotiations back underway.

But then you'd know that if you actually got involved and read about the world instead following the band wagon like everyone else.

*Yes, I was being condescending and by that I mean I am talking down to you.

  • Purple

^ Which is why I tend to avoid talking about politics because I understand that most of my views are still heavily influenced by my father, and I myself don't know enough facts. That does not mean I don't have an opinoin, it just means I can't really defend it too well.

  • Bret Higgins

    Melanie:

1: He went on evidence given by British and American intelligence and also from UN reprts. Don't blame him, blame them.

2: Iraq's output of oil is around 2,000,000 barrels a day. Iraq exporst less than 440,000 barrels a day to the USA. The USA uses approximately 21,930,000 barrels per day. This makes Iraq's contribution to the USA oil output just over TWO percent.

    3. He is a politician, all politicians follow this creed. This argument is childish and not specious.

    4. Give us facts, reasons and tell us who he did tax.

    5. Bottom line your opinion is not open minded so any evidence you will give will not give the whole story, but only the blinkered opinion you want us to see.

everyone's entitled to their own opinion, don't bash mine, argue.

I can't argue without bashing your opinion, deal with it.

  • Ash

OH MY GOD. seriously these type of topics only cause arguments and they can go on forever. not really any point in starting one but whatever...

personally, it pisses me off when people bash and bash Bush. He is doing their best and trying to protect us from getting bombed and attacked.
yeah i agree that the whole 'war' is not good. i dont like war but we have great soldiers out there fighting for us and all people can do is complaine. it is a very sad thing and it sucks when people die, but they died for our country and thats why they are in the army, to fight for our country.

seriously its really low and immature to sit and talk crap about the president. its obviously NOT easy and he has to make sooo many decisions that arent easy. and people think its a dandy job and that anybody can do it. well no i respect him because he works hard to try andhelp our coutry weather people agree or disagree with him. Its really dissapointing how people act and treat someone who does a lot for all of us. im pretty sure is Kerry was pres. right now we probably would have had more terroist attacks. and its better to have some coutries be afriad of us then think we are wimpy then attack us.

ahh whatever. thats just my opinion so dont freak out if you disagree.

  • Bret Higgins

Actually there is one thing I hold against Bush personally. Reinterpretation of the Geneva Convention sickened me. The Convention is a system of rules for warfare between two or more countries. Terrorists do not fight under a flag, nor do they wear uniforms to identify themselves. They deserve no defence under the Convention whatsoever.

If they are going to torture people just do it in secrecy like every nation has ever done since the dawn of the idea that they can keep torture a secret.

oh my God. did anyone ever say Bush was a saint?

Angelina: look mainly to the British intelligence community who came to the conclusion that wmd were being proliferated. That is not BUsh's fault it was a mistake made by MI5 and the CIA mixed in with a little bit of the UN.

  • Dominique

i'd like to see anyone of you do a better job.
before any of you start hating me, let me state my opiniuon first.

i use to be Democrat just like all of you. i thought this was ridiculous, i hated George Bush. But then i did some thinking and i realized some of the following.

i realize this war has been going on forever, but see i thought putting Saddam Hussian out of power and establishing a Democracy in Iraq was a good thing. hmm, guess i was wrong. and yes alot of american soliders have died, my heart goes out to them and their families. but these soliders knew what they were getting into..because they wanted to fight for their country. Geroge Bush did not go into this war to "impress" his father. he went into it to put a cynical man out of power. now that we've done that, we can't leave until were done fighting the terrorist that remain there

if we did pull out now, that would give all the other countries in the middle east to fight eachother..which would cause more blood shead, one thing im guessing alot of you didnt realize. now for this whole " lets blame 9-11 on Bush". how dare you and you're bigoted ignorance. we all know planes are what flew into the field, the pentagon and the world trade centers...but see no one from the white house was flying those planes, it was terriorst all apart of a little group called
Al-quadia. the Government had no knoweldge of this attack before it happened. so stop believeing those stuipd conspiracies.

and if you're one of those people who believe that the Government needs to take more control, well that was already tried..it was called the Soviet Union, and it fell. you should open your history books and read about it some time. look it isn't the governments fault that alot of people on this world make stupid decisions, even if the government tried to take more control everyone would just rebel anyway. you know they would, no one wants to live under totalitarian power.

to those who believe war doesnt solve anything, let me be frank without war, we wouldn't be a free country let alone have a fair governement, there would be communinism like you wouldn't believe, the nazis would most likely still be dominating, oh and of course saddam would still be in power. and to think all of this would have been possible if we never had war...what a wonderful world that would be. to those who hate america get out you're not a true american and you don't deserve to live here if you're not thankful to. so please why dont you go live in some third world country see how that works out for you.

ok so ive said my peace. if you don't agree with me that fine, most likely i already dont agree with you. i have no desire to start some sort of argument, even if it came off differently. i just wanted to take a stand for the republican party..if you have a problem with that i dont care. i came here to tell my opinuion and thats it.

  • Bret Higgins

Angelina, nice questions, I'll try to answer as succinctly as possible.

Bush looked for other causes to stay in Iraq because if the US, UK and Austrailia (and about 10 other countries) withdrew their troops the ensuing chaos could have ignited a localised war between Iran, Syria, Israel, Jordan and every other country there.

    Why?

Because the land in Iraq has its uses, especially southern Iraq, and without a properly organised military force there to protect the people who had just been freed from a tyrannical despot Iran, at least would have driven all it's tanks in there and made it Iran part two... then it could have just called itself Persia like the good old days (see Thermopolae).

So yes, regime change, which was the main reason for insertion anyway (why else would you remove someone from power?), was pushed even more. And now, the New York Times (who have staunchly defended Saddam, saying he had no wmd) released an article saying he was trying to proliferating nuclear arms in an effort to become a super power all along. You gotta love the deomcratic lefty papers.

The 2000 election has little to do with the mess Iraq is in now? I know it was dodgy, but it was one state, Florida that was all crunked up (yes, I live in Florida now, it's a nice place on the surface) probably better to save this for another argument before we get off topic because ballot counting had nothing to do with Bush.

And don't you worry, no chance of me being brainwashed. I don't watch much news on the tv here.. unless I want to look at tanks and 'splosions, in which case I put on Fox news. I'm a BBC and Reuters boy, born and bred. I go to the source, not the opinionated. If you don't use the BBC and Reuters for your news then you may be being skewed yourself.

im not a democrat or republican im independent and our goverment sucks i do kno if hilary clinton goes up she has my vote its about time we have a woman up plus her husband was a good president and now when other countries look at us thaey see us as weak no longer does anyone fear (the sleeping giant)....we need to just start putting the fear of america back in people!!!!george bush sucks and a striped ^$$ monkey could do a better job than him!!!!

  • Kevin

    Doug Stanhope for president!!!

Then we'll see some change, some honesty and the only people who will be fighting wars will be on TV in desert islands for our entertainment.

None of you really know what is going on in Iraq, or the reasons for it, even Bret, who seems very well informed can't be sure he knows the reality, only the reported details, which is second hand at best.

For all we know this war is like when the music stops in musical chairs, except with land and resources....America is making the scramble for the chair so it's not left out! Who knows, there are so many theories flying about, even about wars that are long over! Look at the debates still raging over Vietnam!

I can't scan every website, BBC or not and still not know the truth, only someone else's ideas, however well researched.

  • ashley

    your right......

  • Bret Higgins

Yep, good and very valid points, Kev. I did have a very good idea of what was going on in the first two years as my old unit was there and I stayed (and still remain) in contact with my old TC and the Int boys who I worked with. Of course, much has changed since then.

Personally I'd go with John McCain. He's about the only honest and trustworthy republican out there at the moment and he has all the military experience (including several years as a vietnam pow.. he walks with a very pronounced limp due to torture.) to cope with Iraq, not fark with the Geneva Convention and sort out the economy too, which in fairness is on the up and has been on the up for a while.

The best thing about McCain is that the Republican spin boys don't like him because he doesn't kowtow to republican policy, but rather does what he feels is in the best interest of the people he represents.

  • Bret Higgins

The thing about world politics is that it's probably the single most complicated thing we have on the planet. Compare it to the Senate in Star Wars and you know that sooner or later the world is going to be ruled by a dictator.

It's hard to be honest about certain things and reasons why invasions, occupations and so forth are taking place because just like in this forum there are so many voices on the world stage that diplomacy has to take precedence lest the world breaks out with a severe rash of radiactive blemishes.

Afghanistan is a totally different kettle of fish, that's the Taliban HQ and home of worldwide Islamic fundamentalist terrorism. I volunteered to get put back on the books and go out there with my mates. The big difference is that the majority of people want a system of government other than than the Taliban that were in power there.

With Iraq it's not about the system of rule, but the system of religion. Take the recent kidnapping escapade. It wasn't Iraqis against foreigners, it was sunni versus shiite. You can't fight against that.

If you number crunch just as many people in Iraq would be dead, but they wouldn't be from varying nationalities, just Iraqis. If you're happy with that, you're happy with that. Saddam's getting the rope for a reason, remember that.

And yes the whole thing has been a balls up from post eradication to now because it wasn't planned properly. This is mainly because the guy the US trusted to get Iraq back on track was lying through his arse about how much the peolpe would accept him as a political head.

It's a crappy situation but leaving it now will make matters a hell of a lot worse, trust me.

i blame bush for all of our countries problems! he makes me angry hes ripped families apart people are dying every day i say let all those people have their civil war and we stay out of it and maybe theyll all kill each other so thur wont be any terriosts and stupid people we have to worry about over thur cuz everyday we get even more involoved and it defnitely will get worse than it gets better

I hope you keep that opinion for the next President and the one after that... and the one after that.

personally, i dont think bush is as bad as everyone wants to believe. sure he shouldnt of gone to war without any allies or even gone at all but at least he had never backed down. even though countless people criticized him he never back down which is why kerry didnt win the election. hes a flip flopper and couldnt decide what he wanted. we need a stern president who wont change his decision when times get tough

  • Ash

    FINALLY.

someone who has actually made sence to me.

Dominique i totally agree with pretty much everything you said.

it really iritates me how people blame Bush for everything.

When people get into the army they DO know what they are getting themselves into.

and i respect them for fighting for our country.

    Bush didnt rip families apart,

    yes families have lost people,

and it sucks, but they died in honor of our country.

and what she said about how we wouldnt be a free country if we didnt have war.

shocking to believe but its true.

I dont nescassarily like war, but who knows where we would all be if we didnt fight for our rights.

im so thankful for all the people that went to war and they are very strong people.

so stop complaining , we have soldiers out there working so hard to keep YOU free, and all you ever do is complain?

    well im out.
i know a lot of you wont agree with me probably,
but thats what opinions are for right?
