Ok. . .I was wondering what people actually BELIEVE happens after you die. . .

I dont want people to tell me what religion or sect they belong to because everybody takes on different variations and it just wouldn't do justice to your beliefs. . .

I mean this question might be really out of order. . .I dont know. . So if you think it is just dont post. . .its not hard. . .I was just wondering. . .

    Please post back I'm interested. . .

Oh and no arguing. . .keep an open mind

If it's a question about what my faith says: boy, is that a LONG story. However, if it's a question about my own, personal idea- then it's somewhat a different story.

Before I begin sharing this, I want you all to know this purely what Islam says, some of it I do not quite understand ‘why’ or ‘how’, but this is how I have read it is:

Most Muslims believe that the end of the world will be marked by skies turning red and loud trumpet-like sounds. The world will be braking, and all of God's people (the Muslims) will be walking towards him (though he will not be seen).

Now, at this point I'm not too sure of what happens, so I’m taking a big leap to the next bit...

Everyone (now including others of different beliefs) will be bought together and centered in the middle of 'somewhere'. A figure will appear and state it is the Almighty, and question “Who-so ever believes in Allah- (Arabic/ Islamic term for the Almighty, Most gracious God) -shall believe in me; I am God.” However, another figure will appear (though which will not be shown too clearly) and will counter argue and insist “I am Allah. Those who are true Muslims will know me and follow me”. After the people choose who they believe is truly Allah, they are taken away somewhere else (an Islamic place I don’t know the whereabouts of). Those who chose in the 1st God will be overcome with riches, beautiful garments and other extraordinary things. The others, however, will be in rags and be kept in a cold, desolate area.

Once again, I’m not too sure of what takes place directly after this, but everyone is gathered together again…

The almighty Allah will now speak to his people, he will play the life of each individual person on a large screen for the world to see, and question whether you repent every sin he has recorded. For every foul word you uttered in your life (especially to your parents or elders) will be paid for by having your tongue cut with iron scissors. For every thing you steal, your hands chopped off with iron blades.

    …another leap…

After this is done, God will throw everyone in hell as punishment for all our sins; some will be in for longer, others (namely young children from babies to 11 year olds) will be excused from this punishment. Now, here’s the bit many of you will object to- but this is how it is: Every good Muslim shall be entered into Heaven after enduring hell. Others, such as people of different beliefs, murderers and those who have committed unforgivable sins will “rot in the firing pit of hell for eternity”.

Life in Heaven will involve seas of honey and milk, and the good Muslims shall experience a restful afterlife.

OK- so that’s pretty much what I’ve been told (when I was 10, so forgive me if I’m vague and have missed MAJOR points out).

I’ll share my personal opinion soon, I’m tired now. Bye!x

P.S: If anyone has anything else relevant to add to that, please do :)

I don't have any real concrete beliefs in the afterlife except that I hope its either heaven (I do not believe in hell) or some sort of reincarnation. Or has anyone read "The Mercy of Thin Air"? I really like the ideas presented in that book about the afterlife.

I've alwys had this kind of feeling that you have to be ready to die. . . I dunno where that links in. . .maybe if your not you become a ghost. . . i dunno really. . . I dont really mind the thought of being dead. . its just dying slowly and painfully lol. . .

In the least suisidal way possible. . even since i was really little. . like 5 or 6. . .The curiosity has got to me. . . about what happens after you die. . . I sorta wanted to because i wanted to know what will happen. . . but then again something makes you want to cling onto life

You "sleep" in an undefined place, and when you wake up, there is an afterlife.

The sprit goes back to the Creator. The body and soul go to the grave.Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust.In the grave you have no prior knowledge of anything..sound sight, touch, nothing. The dead no not nothing! Only one man ever who has walked the Earth has been resurrected from the grave.
Jesus Christ. All others still in the grave. Except for Elijah and Elisha, who were taken without death. They will be back as Prophets and die one day. At the appointed time. By faith, I Believe in Jesus Christ as the son of God and my savior. I opted,my choice. One day I''ll Meet my maker,in faith I know I have everlasting life,by his grace.
