Who are your favourite artists?

And why?

I hate Damien Hurst. I love Tracy Emin, because she kicks taboo ass. I love Christo, because I have no idea where the hell he gets the money, time, or drive to make such pointless 'artwork'. And I love Monet and Van Gogh because their works are detailed, skilfull and beautiful.

But Tracy Emin is the best. I hate Damien Hurst because she hates him.

second on davinci - I wrote a poem about him back in jr high, I should really find that....

also - I know it's kinda cliche but Georgia O'Keefe. I love that she can take an ordinary object and transform it into something extraordinary surreal. her close-ups of the red flowers... Love it. I'm generally into abstract myself, when I get the chance to paint.

next - Franz Marc! I love the guy. German Expressionist, liked to paint abstracted animal forms. Look up "Tiere im Wald," "Large Blue Horses," or... something about deer sleeping in the woods. Bright colors!

and more! - Vermeer. Oh, those Dutch and their details. He did Girl with a Pearl Earring, for those who would recognize him from that. My favorite one of his is of this maid pouring milk from a pitcher into a bowl. i don't know, he just managed to capture this serene, real, perfect and lovely moment. woo!

Whoever directs the movies like house of Flying Daggers and Hero. Art in movie form!
