I am about to have my first child. This is a very exciting time for me and my boyfriend. Although we are excited i can't help but be scared. See we found out a few months ago that our Daughter "Olivia" has Spina-Bifida ,water on her brain, a little bleeding and clubed foot. This has been so hard to cope with.. I don't know what to do, think, or say to people.. If anyone can relate or has anything to say i would love to hear what u all have to say...Thank you..

Hey, Don't be scared. Its natural to be scared though! I hadn't actually heard about Spina-Bifida. So I looked it up... A lot of my family is somewhere in the medical field and I want to become a Mid-Wife. So I thought it would be intresting to find out. I have a niece that I raised for the first part of her life and so I really know what its like when someone says somethings wrong. Honestly, What is a clubed foot? I was just wondering. And I love her name! Its very pretty!

Thank you .. I want to wish you luck on becoming a Mid-Wife.. A clubed foot though is when a foot or both feet are turned inward. She will have to have braces put on her legs to straighten them out. Her father had that when he was born and had the braces put on and ended up being a very good basketball player but with the spina-bifida she's is most likely going to have a hard time walking anyways. I hope everything turned out ok for your niece

I have a sister who was born with spina bifida,But hers was on the lower spine which creates other issues, but a lot of progress has been made since her birth I understand surgery can be done before the babys born now in some cases. educate yourself ,there are a lot of advances in this area.By the way my sister grew up raised a family and is still going strong, good luck. God bless you and her.

Thanks! Oh okay. I know what it is. But I didn't know the name for it. At least it is something that can be taken care of and she won't have to deal with all of her life. Now I understand it better. Yes, Everything is great with my niece! But just hold you head up high and know you can do anything you want to! She will be okay! But you will also be in my prayers!

Hey, chin up. something is always wrong with a baby. its normal. sometimes they misdiagnose things too. when i was in the womb, they said i was going to be mentally retarded. Look at me now!!! I'm a straight A student.

yeah, it is natural to be scared and worried. that just means you care. but if you love this child, I think things will be okay and it dont matter what anyone else thinks so you dont have to worry about what they'll say
