Yes, I have had 3. They only live for 3-4 years, so don't get freaked out if it dies. It's only old age. You have to clean the cage out EVERY WEEK, or lse it will get really nasty. I'm talking about throwing the bedding away, soaking it with warm water and mix soap in it, scrubing it, spraying Grease Lightning in the corners(their favorite place to relieve themselfs) and then washing it out and putting bedding in it. Don't get one of those elaborite cages where when you clean it you have to take everything apart. No, that's too hard. They like carrots, dog biscuts, toast, srawberries...that sort of thing. Don't give them that too often though. Feed them normal hamster food and make sure they are in plenty of supply in food and water. They like rolling around in a ball and to roam around outside. But you better watch it! They are pretty fast! I suggest you get a teddy bear hamster to start with. They are easy, sweet, and only bite when they are in pain. That's it for now! If you follow through and need advice, talk to me! |

Thanks! I did indeed buy a teddy bear hamster. Everything was fine at first. I gave it time alone in her new cage, but when i went to go pick it up (slowly and carefully) it bit me! :( I think i might have scared it though. I was just wondering if it'll keep being scared of me when i try to play with it. What are the best ways to make the hamster get used to me and trust me? And will it keep biting me?...that hurt! lol |

About the biting thing- make sure that your hands are clean before you pet them. I noticed with mine if I had touched any food even a few hours before, she would smell it and nibble on my fingers. It's not to hurt, they're just hungry I guess lol. |
