This is a HUGE decision I'm thinking about. Help me out a little

I was talking to my aunt earlier today. She is such a great aunt and she'll always say what is on her mind and I swear she's the best one that I have along with my other aunt. But anyways lets get to the point. She called and asked how my Solo Esemble was yesterday (Saturday) and I told her the judge really liked it and the judge also asked how hard was it to hear or learn the song from my hearing aids. And from that me and my aunt got onto the subject of my hearing loss. Not to mention right now I'm hard of hearing. But my aunt said that I should go to my regular doctor and ask if they think I should have surgrey on my hearing to atleast make it better, in other words if they think it could help they'll send me to the MAYO CLINIC to see a specialist in Rochester, Minnesota or some other place. My aunt said that there could be a chance of this happening. And my grandma and me should atleast try.

It's a hard decision to make because I go to Lions Camp every summer and if I have this surgrey would they still accept me or not?

And theres always a chance of me going completely deaf from this surgrey.

What exactly do you guys think of this?

I think you should try it.
You have your whole life to decide if you want to do it or not, it's not a decision you have to do [now], you can always wait for a few years until your ready.

However, I'd say go for it. You have hearing to lose, yes, but if I were you, I'd take that chance. Technology is coming along very well these days, and I'm sure there's only a small percentage that you could lose it all together.

Life is full of taking risks, and I think you should consider this one. If you lose your hearing, it will be devistating, but you'll have your friends by you always, and heck, I'd even help you through it.
But, always remember, losing your hearing is a very small chance.
No matter what the outcome, you're still loved, and you'll still be able to write. And you're a great writer. One of my favorites. =] AND a great person. Where could you find many like that? And has that anything to do with hearing? No. And I never new you had a 'disorder.' I'm proud of you for handling it so well. =]

If you want to talk further about this, I'd be glad to help you. Just use the contact box on my profile to get my email. =]

This is completely your decision. And I'm sure that that school [Lions Camp] or whatever it is, will take you despite your 'issue.' If they don't, then I'd say it's a bad school or whatever that you shouldn't go to anyways. =]

    And Suicide,

Hearing lost is just one of my disablilites.

I also have Von Willebrands Disease, a bleeding disorder, but not many ppl know that.

From what I have seen, operations can prove to not be very helpful or successful in most cases, so be VERy careful. Read as much on the subject as you possibly can and research the clinic before trying ANYTHING.

Yeah. That was something else I was going to ask my doctor if he does recommend it.

I mean if i do this then I'd have a better chance at getting my job as a Sign Language Interpreter.

    Bob,

Yes, Von Willebrands Disease does interfere with operations. I can bleed internally and not even know it til it's too late (ex: I hit my head by accident on cement or something really hard that CAN DO damage and not go to the doctor.) If I was ever in a car accident and I had to go into surgrey, I have to be treated with DDAVP. BUT because I've been having nose bleeds so damn bad I had to go to the hospital to my nose, ears and throat doctor. He said they don't know why they put me on DDAVP BECAUSE it's for people with Diabetes. So now I can't use ANYTHING to stop the bleeding. The longest time I've had a nosebleed was 17 in 48 hours. The biggest one ran for about 4 hours straight. So yeah.

Ask your doctor deffinately...because of the bleeding thing I think it may be better not to have the surgery...besides you've learned how to adapt anyways...so...

Yeah but I always wanted to be a Sign Language Interpreter all my life. And it would NOT be funny if i misinterpret or something along those lines..

    What about my dream job?
