^That's possibly the worst advice one could seriously give to such a problem.

    Just be honest with her.

Be ready with a box of tissues and some chocolate. Hopefully next time she'll be more interested on trying not to choke on the chocolate than crying on your shoulder :). Just kidding, just be a friend. She probably needed someone new and open minded to the situation to tell and you were there. It is a bit uncomfortable when someone you don't really know is crying but try and be there for them.

For some reason the above post made me angry. could be the spelling.

However, and anger doesn't mean it's a lie, or true. just is there.

Sorry... I do think that you should stick with it and do your best if you do think this friendship could grow into some thing good though.

I don`t know if I missed something, what is the problem? maybe you caught this person on a bad night it doesn`t mean they`re going to be this way all the time ,you must have made them feel they could trust you with their emotions ,maybe the time will come when you will need a shoulder to cry on,thats a part of friendship right?

I am with Deana. The first post sounded like~

" Oh my God I made this great new friend but she cried in front of me and now I am afraid she will be emotionally dependent on me for the rest of our lives"

If she is a wonderful person and a great new friend, why is her opening up to you a bad thing? Shouldn't friends be able to open up to one another, depend on one another and maybe even cry in front of one another once in a while. Now if it becomes a regular thing, where it is just drama, drama, drama all the time that is a different story, but at the moment it sounds like a biut of an over reaction.

You know...I completely agree with Britt.
Being friends with someone means being there for them through both the good times AND the bad.
As for complaining about the fact that someone actually trusted you enough to let you see them be weak on a website where she can't see...well that's pathetic.
The way to have a good friend is to BE a good friend.
if you can't except that then you don't deserve a friend in the first place.
