Maybe, for once, everyone should stop and think for just a moment. maybe if people thought 'just because i disagree doesn't mean that person is wrong', there would not be nearly as many problems in our world.
but then again i forgot, you're always right.

think of the cold war. a large portion of the problem originated from groups of people saying "democracy is the best" and/or "communism is the best". neither side would concede that they were not 100% correct.

its rather ironic when people get into an argument about equal rights and how evil discrimination is, then they start ripping on anyone who has slightly different opinions. isn't that a form of discrimination? when you see people with different opinions as less than you are? hmmm.

not everyone will agree. deal with it. you want to have an educated debate? fine. but when they don't agree, don't resort to insults or try to provoke them.

i made a post similar to this a while ago but it was deleted. i'm not sure why and i never got a for sure answer. lets see if this one disappears.

    I agree fully.

I find the biggest problem with debates on this site is that either

    1. People try to force their opinions on others - as if they are the only person who knows anything about the world.

    or

    2. When people give their opinion, the original poster makes it as though you are attacking them and telling them that they are wrong.

I find that whenever I try to include myself within a debate on this site, at least one person in the thread always acts as though I am attacking them, when truly I am just presenting another side of the arguement.

To me, the reason that people think this way is that we don't have any real way of showing what emotion we feel while talking about things online. This can make things confusing because if one doesn't know the tone that someone else is taking when speaking about something, then how do they know what tone to respond with?

I think that everything would be easier if we could have some sort of emotional markers for text when speaking online.

    Good post.
