Most of my poems are rhyming and I love to rhyme and stuff but the thing is i want to write other types of poems but whenever i dont rhyme them, they sound weird. why? and How can i write without the pressure of rhyming? |

I have some that rhyme and some that don't, i just write it as it comes, for me ryming just flows nicely sometimes, but no matter what the piece of work, rhyming or not, I am always critical of myself. |

You could always try formed pieces of poetry such as a rictametre or a cameo etc, to help you get used to not rhyming. |

I find it difficult to write free-hand poetry but I have some advice for you.. |

Perhaps create some lines that do rhyme and then think of words that mean the same but don't rhyme to replace it with? It would still hold a good set of quatrains, and would probably expand the vocabulary used in the piece too. |

Hm... for me its the exact opposite. i cant rhyme at all, but i can write plenty of free verse. to me, it just flows more naturally. what i do is just write, like im writing a letter to somebody. thats how a lot of my poems end up, is as letters. |

I agree with the last foolish child...i had a hard time liking poems from people who didnt rhyme but after a while i started really reading poems and i saw the beauty in them either way..its all about the emotion and the way you portray it not the way you write it..poetry, i believe, can never really be defined and theres no one way of writing it |
