Ever wondered why most of the drivers(bus,taxi) are guys?..I don't generalize and say all,but many of them are guys..actually here has no any woman transportation drivers

Don't want to be sounded as feminist..but do any of you know why?

And now discuss people!

I haven't wondered that before, actually ; ). But now I have. My best guess would be that a woman driver would be more concerned for her safety- picking up random strangers at 2 in the morning, etc. Perhaps not a progressive thought, from a feminist perspective, but hey... it happens.

I thought it was because a womans place is at home with the kids, or in the kitchen maybe, and the man should be out working.

Yeah..I was at local transportation bus yesterday...And while looking at driver..This thing came up..Why?

Well In Townsville it was a change if you got a male taxi driver lol there are heaps and majority of drivers in Townsville are female... but from what I've seen of Mt Isa... which is probably alot more than I think because Mt Isa is a small town with nothing to do in it... most of the taxi drivers I've had... actually all of them I have had hear have been males between 40-60 years old. I catch a cab everynight from work, I only live 20 minutes (by feet) down the road but I finish work very late some nights and just can't bring myself to walk through an unfamiliar town haha or maybe I'm just lazy??

Here in Florida we have many female bus drivers, be it school bus or public transportation. I've not seen any female taxi drivers though.....

Well in my town we have about 5 male drivers and alot of female drivers. lol even on the charter buses there are females more then males. (my town is about 8 000 people) so it so yea

I've actually noticed this too! But in this town, I don't think I would want to be a woman taxi driver... :(

A lot of women are put off by the fact that if they picked up a single male they could be murdered/raped and are afraid of the idea, so therefore don't become taxi/bus drivers. In my life I've seen about THREE taxi drivers that were female. I think it's the safety issue.

Ok, enough sexist jokes. There are less female automobile transportation drivers because women are much more commonly the victim of physical attacks, especially harassment and rape. Driving with a male stranger in the backseat can be a little scary, and a lower class male driver is less likely to be attacked...I would think.

Actually, the mom of one of my good friends is a limousine driver.

And suggesting that women suck at driving is ridiculous. Not only to statistics state the opposite, but any gender-based bias is naiive.

Female taxi drivers just aren't cool, except when Winona Ryder was one in that multiple lives film..I forget it's name.

I'm only just getting used to female bus drivers in Scotland, lets not go hog crazy with the equal rights eh...I mean you have the vote, what else do you want?

Haha, personally, cab drivers, and bus drivers,
kinda creep me out a little. But I have known women that drive buses, my 8th grade trip was driven to st. louis by a women bus driver.

She was creepy though.

There are female taxi drivers and there definately are female bus driver.

But I guess you have to look past the generalised view that women should and must work in every field. Again you have to consult the individual.

But I will say is that many women and many men do not find any solace in working as a bus driver.

But if I look at this sociologically, I would say that it would be the working class that would do this type of work. Although the class system was said to be abolished, it is not...
