Religion. Belief or mental illness?

The title is a bit provocative, I'll admit. I just want to know how people can have faith in something they have neve seen or heard. When did you find your faith? Or do you think religion is a joke.

Well thanks for your opinion. But I think most people worked out what I meant anyway.

Back to the post... Erm... Think of it this way:

"I'd rather live my life thinking there is a God, to die and find out that there isn't, than living my life thinking there is no God, to find out there is."

So, yeah... Even without that quote, I wholeheartedly believe that God is.

I am an agnostic atheist, but I wouldn't classify religion as a mental illness. It's what you're brought up with. I don't know what you're trying to discuss here, not even the most radical atheist would really classify religion as "a mental illness". Are you trying to discuss God's existence or what?

By the way, you need a good understanding of how electricity works to build a radio in the first place...and I have personally never "heard the radio", if you know what I'm saying.

Religion in my opinion was founded on good beliefs but through time has become completely corrupted. God is different though. Everyone has their own god or interpretation of and that it what makes us who we are. BTW I am completely non religious.

I think before we go any further, we need some operational definitions on the following:
    Religion:
    Belief:
    Faith:
    Mental Illness:

    Cheers!
