A soul made hallow

How do you escape a past that's still haunting you
The memories forever burned into you sketch upon your skin like dark shadows of pain and torment
It sometimes consume you for a moment long enough for a river of tears to start flowing
Remembering every time those hands came crashing down not only leaving a temporary mark that fades and disappears over time but leaves a black hole inside you ripping away part of your soul that still lingers on hopelessly waiting for that gentle man he once was
