The Bearded Lady at the Circus

by Jessie   Apr 2, 2008

I'm not who you think I am. You label me a freak. Like some weirdo at the circus. When they and I are actually just normal people wanting to just live our lives freely. Sure, we may be a little different then you. But don't we all have our differences? Just because ours may be more visible then yours doesn't mean we don't need or want to be accepted. Everyone deserves to be accepted. We didn't aask too have these abnormalities as I'm sure you didn't ask for yours. We just got them, and that's just who we are. It's what makes us special.

As I walk down the hallway at school I feel a bunch of your eyes staring me down. Scruitinizing my every insecurity. When all I want is to be left alone. Just like the people at the circus probably wants, I want to be treated normally and not have all people pointing, laughing, and staring at me. It's not cool to get your entertainment and joy out of making fun of others differences.

If you really tried, I'm sure you could find a lot of good things that we have in each of us. Just because a lady might have a beard, or a girl that hardly ever talks, doesn't mean that don't have anything SO spectacular about them. Maybe the lady is a very beautiful on the inside, or maybe the girl that hardly ever talks is a good listner. We each have something we should be proud of. All of us has something to offer, but if you keep laughing at them it might take away from what they have to give.

Next time you see a quiet little girl, or a bearded lady at the circus, remember that they are people too, and they need acceptance just as much as you do.
