Dreams You Can't Remember

by Curing the Comon Cliche   Sep 13, 2008

What's the matter, friend?
Can't you look into my eyes?
What if this is no poem?
But a forsaken lullaby

Do your eyes droop, my friend?
Am I lulling you to sleep?
Are you evaporating to my dream world?
To my dungeon without a key

I'll be upfront here, my friend
Your fears are common sense
You're running forever in a black room
Hold close, dear dark suspense

The twisted, evil fingers
Metallic, cold and dark
That cover your mouth from screams
It's only just the start

My friend, what have you to scream of?
You have yet to see the worst
The fire eyes of souls you've seen
Go back and forward in this world

My friend, the world is ours for the taking
Corrupt leaders break their own laws
People lost their way and right
Don't see their sickness as a flaw

My friend, why are you scared?
Am I scaring you?
The darkened beauty that are my words
Have a bitter hint of truth

Like blood they spill from flesh wounds
Like poison from a snake
The fear engulfs you and captures you
In a snare asleep, awake

They call this a nightmare
But you won't live to tell of me
I take the dreams you can't remember
I kill you're memories

So what I got from this, since I'm in a major monologue thing at the moment...this could really be great to read aloud. The emotions are strong. And the way I picture it is....speaking to yourself. "friend" could be youreslf. but also...i saw you saying this to monique. or me a few months ago...

this was great. very dark, strong, moving...
