Warren Pryor - My version

by Aveena   Feb 26, 2009

When sacrifice meant success
When going to school was a must
Meager was no more an option;
Where nothing bore you down

You blush with pride at your graduation
Holding that slender scroll high
Your passport from years of hard work
Wearing that silky red gown

You go into the work force
They marveled at your silky white shirt
Free of that old life you had
You no longer have a frown

You never said nothing
like you didn't have a voice
your hands are no longer begging
for you have a choice

    Very well written poem. Lines are nicely constructed and very compact. I liked the subject too. It's little different and it's about success in life. Ok... good! Well done!
