Austin, nicely done. Writers pour out their hearts into their writings or at least I do. A way to release the emotions that are bottled up inside us. I like the last verse because to me it means that some people write just to write words and they have no real feelings or emotions in them. Well done.

A way of life or maybe a secret
Buried in our hearts and poured
unending over and over in ink
still reciting the same lonely message.

    Austin
There is so much emotion bottled up in some of us we need a way to release it. Then there are those that write for only show and have no emotion attached to their words.
    Good job!

Woh.. this is an amazing poem that so many of us poets can relate too. Writing is indeed a release of whats inside ... whether happy or sad, and good poem is one that touches the heart. The one has! :) Well Done Austin! I enjoyed this piece a lot :)

    My fav.verse also...

"A way of life or maybe a secret
Buried in our hearts and poured
unending over and over in ink
    still reciting the same "

Awesome words Austin... and very true, Lolz.

A relevant poem for me with a very philosophical last stanza. Relevant because I had a diary for many years and each page was an outpouring of anguished (or happy) emotions that I was going through at the time. When I look at those old pages now, they seem an endless repository of emotions, as the poem suggests. But at the time of the writing, there was a definite, driven need to express these burning thoughts somewhere! An initimate look at this process, well expressed!

When things are bottled up inside of us, writing becomes our only release and it may help ease the burden..I liked this write very much..

    Spilling empty words on paper
    breathing life in my pen,
    but killing all my inspiration.

^here's a challenge for you, as I have talked with another poet on this issue. when writing about writing, you should try to refrain from using words related to writing, try to spice it up with other words or metaphors so that you don't have to use them. like here you've used 'paper' , 'pen' & 'inspiration' I feel like with those words the poem turns cliche really fast and bores the reader. All of us have heard these phrases you've used in the first stanza..try to eliminate the words I listed and turn them into metaphors or something more original.

    resembling phrases of hidden meaning
spelling emotions of joy and sadness
    leaving a fragrance of pain.

^again here, 'phrases' and 'emotions' maybe try to eliminate those. you could I guess say 'spelling out joy and sadness' although that's still not original really it would eliminate the word.

I think this poem could be better, some more creative images perhaps as well as trying to eliminate those words pertaining to writing. I know it's suppose to be a poem about your writings, but if you see what i'm saying... using words that have to do with writing just make the poem so boring. just my thoughts though, you can do whatever with the poem as you please!
