I really like the first stanza of the poem:

    I'm an old soul writer
    with a backyard pen,
    I learned that rhyme
    should flow in rhythmic song
    and haiku's are flowers
    from ancient Japan.

It sets the atmosphere for the whole write, lovely!

Very nice piece. Nothing wrong with being old school.

    Wiping tears away with napkins,
    mixing words of scribbled feelings,
leaving them behind at a restaurant,
so the waitress might be touched
    by my lonely sorrow.

This stanza really made the poem for me. It visualizes the loneliness sometimes felt.

I am from the old school myself
there is nothing greater than that
Look at the music, we are going back
30 and 40 years, it is still playing
coming from the old school has so
much inside and meaning, unlike today
    awesome poem, so well penned

I really like this poem, I'm old fashion, in a way, I guess I'm in between.

I specially love the ending. One word at a time. . .
