My Friendship Gift

I often wonder what deeds of mine
Have so much pleased the Lord above,
For truly He has been kind enough
To bless me with a friend to love.

You're the sunshine in my life
That brightens up my sky,
The smile on my lips,
You're the apple of my eye.

You're so kind and caring,
Full of charm and grace,
For him, who possesses a friend like you,
The world is a happy place.

When hours of loneliness fill my days
When, troubled with problems big and small,
I know not how to set right the ways
Then all I think is you of all.

I'll stand by you through thick and thin
Oh friend! I will always be,
If only my words could express
How much you mean to me.

Distance might separate us one day,
Years may slip away, old we may grow,
Yet, my dear, the flame of friendship
Forever in our hearts will glow.
